i get into it constantly when a black person turns their nose up at black person with a black name or be like “wow why did their mom name them that”.

its weird to me because every other race’s culture can be displayed through their name. but black people cant have that or its looked down upon as being ghetto.

never heard of mexicans saying they have to name their child Tom so they wont have to worry about getting a job. i know we get profiled for our names in interviews but we have to put a stop to that influencing how we want to exist in this world imo. what are yall thoughts?

Who created these names and designated them to be “black”?

If you think “Shaniqua” is an authentically African name I have a bridge in Kansas I want to sell you

Some black names are just old European names that white people stopped using and then became "our" names.

LeRoy, Demetrius, Tyrone, Jerome.

Now some names, people just go out of their way to be "different" like L'Quantreyvious or DeChambroniqua.

Then you got PAWGS that name their mixed kids "regular" names but spell them weird: Justyn, Tielerr, Dehvid, Danyuhl or some bullshyt like that.

And we fukking love Arabic names....especially up north.

Usually pronounce them wrong the way cacs mispronounce Spanish. We end up sounding like gringos because of our white influenced pronunciation.

Jamal should sound closer to "Juh-Mul"....we say JaMaaaaaal

Rasheed is more like "Ruh-Shid" but we say Rah-Sheeeed. And so on.

Huh? I don't even know what this means. Can you clarify?

The point is, when people say "black names" the underlying assumption is that there is history and tradition behind those names, when there is none. "Black names" is a misnomer for names like Shaquana. Those names were not present in our history before the 60's. And were only present among a certain demographic. I can understand Arab sounding names like Jamal, Abdul, or Aisha because some of our ancestors were Muslim. And those names got carried down. But we should really stop labeling all these other concoctions as "black" when there is no black history or black tradition behind those names.
This us retarded
African Americans are a unique group of people with our own culture. We can start a tradition any time we want to

when I think of black sounding names I either think of:

the adding a French prefix at the beginning, e.g. LaMichael, DeAndre
(apostrophes optional)

or the Arab in origin name, e.g.
Amir, Jamal, Rashad

or biblical names e.g.
Malachi, Michael, James

I don’t look down on either of these. Even some creative names are cool if there is meaning. Condoleeza is a music term meaning “with sweetness”

But shyt like Da’Coldest is fukking retarded:manny:
:mjlol:I believe his full name is Decoldest ToEvaDoIt Crawford.

Ignorance isn't Blackness.

And anyone that correlate ignorance with Blackness is either a C00N or a delusional anti-Black racist.

TLR loves to be obtuse when it comes to this topic. There's a difference between sensible/intelligible black names and just over the top added syllables/pronunciations and then calling it a black name just because it's “different” from the “usual” whatever that's supposed to mean.

Black ppl in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s had black names that were intelligible and not just any ole random shyt as if somebody digged in a bag of full of alphabet letter blocks and had to create a name from whatever was chosen out the bag in less than 5 minutes.

BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE
SOME shyt SOME LITTLE KIDS
CAME UP WITH.

MEXICANS DIDNT COME
UP WITH THEIR NAMES BTW.

THOSE ARE CAC NAMES FROM EUROPE.
SPAIN TO BE EXACT.

YOU CANT COMPARE THOSE HOME MADE NAMES TO NAMES FROM
OTHER COUNTRIES AND
CALL THEM "BLACK" NAMES.
What’s wrong with coming up with a name? I Google myself and it’s a lot of mf, a lot of them white, with my same first and last name
