It's so damn hard to interview for a job when you actually have a job these days.

Taking a day off is cool but now you have to find 4 different days/reasons to be away from work.

When you have to go through 4 different interviews you're gonna need 4 different excuses to be away from work. It's way harder to be discreet about it these days.

This isn't really new to me because I've heard some horrible stories from when I was in undergrad (~2005-2010) about companies doing this for new hires. Interns had to do about three for some of the larger ones.

I don't think hiring processes have gotten more bloated. If anything, laying off all the recruiters probably means regular folks are handling that process now without the proper knowledge. Most hires are done fully virtual

I have noticed that hires are a lot more scrutinized internally now tho. With all the mass hires and layoffs, a lot of money was wasted in that process. More managers might be involved in the process so everyone is "accountable" for the decision...

BRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKLLLLLYYYYYNNNN
Not only multiple rounds the assignments and case studies are ridiculous too:
-recruiter call
-hiring manager/director interview
*at-home assignment*
-hiring team panel interview (could be multiple sub rounds) + case study
-cross-functional panel interview (could be multiple sub rounds)
-leadership/executive interview
What type of jobs are these requesting all this shıt?

The worst part to me had been video screenings. It’s super awkward to me and nothing like feeling out a person interviewing and having a real conversation.
This is just an awful practice and just a waste of everyone's time. There's no dynamic, no back and forth or probing or guiding the conversation. It's static. And paying a bunch of recruiters to sit and watch "tape" all day is a major waste as well lol

the beauty of capitalism and immigration
These companies saw how fast salaries climbed due to labor shortages during the pandemic. Look for increased immigration to correct the labor imbalance and reduce wages.

This is why I prefer large companies that have multiple sectors. Much easier to interview since it’s in house

I walked out of an interview once when the company had me and another dude they were interviewing show up at the exact same time for the same interviewer. They took me first and I had to tell them I’m not interested, y’all clearly playing games and this makes me concerned about the work atmosphere. That stuff where 8 guys all show up at the same time is Hollywood stuff.

I heard some bullshyt from a hiring manager one time "you sounded hesitant when we last spoke...."

I said "I'm in the parking lot ducking my manager and nosy ass coworkers to take that call, what you expect :what: "
