I noticed the same things with some of the career girls down her in the ATL. They felt so important that they couldn't stay still. The part of Atlanta I live in don't even have those types anymore...smh. But that may have something to do with layoffs...the picture ain't always as good as it looks. The difference I see down here is, even some of the overweight 6's and 7's have that same "so important" mentality, especially when they're dressed up in their office clothes. But it's still better than seeing a ratchet. Anyway, my ex who I had a long term relationship with when I was in the DMV, sorta had this mentally, but not as bad as the others. But she did have this bad habit of always finding a reason to be outta bed first. She'd be in the shower and out the door before you knew it, even on the weekends. Shyt, I'd rather lay up all day with a skeezer...not really, lol. Anyway, I found out later that my older brother, who's a doctor, was experiencing the same thing with his ex-girlfriend, who is also a doctor.
Nonetheless, I found it's best not to get too hooked on one city if you really don't have too. A lot of people down here in the ATL who get tired of this place, have another location to chill out, whether it be back at their hometown, the DMV, B'more, Philly, NYC, or wherever. I use to wonder how they were doing this, and I always assumed I couldn't afford to do it. But as they say, "If there's a will, there's a way", and I think I found a way I can rotate back and forth between the ATL and the DMV, without having to buy another property, or rent out an apartment that I won't be in half the time, or wait until I start collecting early social security so I can afford it...like my ass ain't already old as it is. I don't think the dating game changed all that much up there though, so that won't be my primary reason for rotating. But it would be good to go back to the DMV every now and then, and not just for emergencies or holidays, and not just for a week. Because the racism in the South, along with both Black and White people always trying to put the White man first, isn't something you want to get used to, especially if you're from a place like the DMV.
