Whenever I see a J Cole video I honestly wonder if he has fans.
Dude is so basic.

Are there J Cole stans in real life?
or did he have a OK buzz, and then that song w/ Miguel blew him up?

Nah my ex was a J.cole stan....She really felt he talked about "DEEP" shyt, and would be like "just listen to what he saying, it's so real"..

And I'd be sittin there like... :francis:

But she wasn't the smartest of girls.... Had the average intelligence of most.... and was a instagram/twitter activist. Would post a Mike Brown photo here & there and felt like she was pro-black because of it. But whenever I would talk about Nubian history, or the Songhai empire, or Garvey it went through one ear & out the other. :francis:

Name a conscious topic black people face in america. I can guarantee I find a verse Pac spit that addresses it.. u nikkas don't make the rules on what conscious is. The nikka spoke on Life. Death. Friends. Enemies. Religion. Police Brutality. Rape. Molestation. Abandonment. The black community. The government. Deadbeat dads. Women. Kids. Suicide. School system. And the fukkin list goes on. nikkas sound stupid in this thread.

Tell me the closest song Pac has to Nature of the Threat by Rass Kass. :usure:

Pac didn't have to conceptualize "consciousness".He wasn't one of those preacher/teacher rappers.Breh was spitting organic, modern day negro spirituals.

Nature Of The Threat made me go "Wow, he's kicking knowledge":ehh:

But when I hear some shyt like this

Pac come straight into your house and hit you on a intimate, personal level.Like he's a family member or some shyt:mjcry:

Anybody can read a book and parrot the information on a track.Pac's shyt was more original than that IMO

Perhaps Fugee-la wasn't the best example, but for you to imply Fugees aren't conscious is ridiculous.
So J.cole is conscious but fugee's aren't?? :why:

Do you really wana go that route? :why:

WE can do a song by song comparison.... I put up 10 Fuguee songs, and you put up 10 weak ass J.cole tracks and let's compare the lyrical content and subject matter. And this includes Lauryn Hill solo tracks.
Conscious doesn't mean good they both suck imo.

So cause Ras Kass has a fukkin song about world history Pac ain't conscious? U just gonna ignore ALL the topics I laid out for u that Pac has spoken on? Conscious rap ain't what YOU choose for it to be. Its not what u think is dope or not. There can be wack conscious rappers and good ones. This is one of the most terrible threads in a minute.

:francis: I'm not even going to respond to your buffoonery.

Exactly. Smh.

Our culture has become so watered down, and sheep-like. Like literally all a nikkas has to do is say "R.I.P. Mike Brown, fukk the police, Donald Trump sucks" and he's conscious. We living in the culture of instagram/twitter consciousness.... As long as you dikk ride a trending contreversal topic you are conscious. :francis:

These nikkas aint teachin our Youth shyt in their raps.....

Well,Too Short,Mac Dre,E-40 aint considered concscience and they've taught multiple generations of youth:wow:....So maybe conscience is subjective,Its more to be learned from them then the damn Fugees:mjlol:

concscious rap been lost its luster over 2 decades ago.

all you have to do to be considered conscious is appeal directly to the disenchanted or alternative rap crowd while exhibiting certain elements of consciousness, whether genuine or not.

@JustCKing aint in this thread?:whistle:

Why would I be in this thread?

Cats like Cole and Kendrick rap about various topics, many of the socially conscious.
But not on some type of "tryna tell you how to live" shyt, i.e. not trying to act smarter than everyone and shyt like the dumb smart conscious rappers usually do. They talk about shyt we go through, shyt we think about, what all types of people go though and on. They are not talking about Washington, quoting philosophers, or the mathematics type of talk. That's why they are Michael Jackson levels among the college crowd.

Dude has verses about hopeless teachers and loud class rooms, that type of relatable shyt is his niche.

And the song you are talking about is probably the first song talking about how stupid all these dumb ass reality shows are. Instead of making it a holier than thou song, he made it a club/pop joint that's not forced, wise move cause it blew up without being a single.

Bruhhhh the rap game is a joke now. :mjlol:

The game has gotten so bad that nikkas like J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Wale, and at one point in time Kanye are considered "conscious rappers". Like WTF are these nikkas saying that is conscious? :heh:

These nikkas aint kickin no Esoteric knowledge, these nikkas aint talkin bout no 5% nation shyt, these nikkas aint talkin bout no Kemet/Nubian history, these nikkas aint talkin bout no Marcus Garvey & Black Nationalism shyt, these nikkas aint talkin bout no Malcolm X shyt, these nikkas aint talkin bout no Black Love & the Black Woman is Queen shyt........
:dahell:

J.Cole talks about losing his virginity, and "dont save her she dont wanna be saved" , and because it's not about Trap shyt it's considered "conscious" :heh: What a fukkin Joke.

Let's compare conscious hiphop, to the bullshyt of today.

compare.

:camby:Get this bullshyt outta here. :aicmon:

cosign 1000%, none of them new age dudes impress me, even slightly. i think the fix is in bro, them nikkas got the boogie man in they corner.

Since OP support child molesters, it makes sense that he wouldn't understand what being conscious is:manny:

because this is similar to that argument we just had about outkast.

Reading through this thread. Yes, it is similar. In fact, it's basically the same argument. I've only seen one post in this thread reference OutKast as conscious though. Even that one post had conscious as "conscious". The Fugees are also being argued in here as a group that isn't conscious.
