You aren't Asian or a moor. My ancestors are Moroccan I may have some close connections if I got back far enough.

yeah well we arent the same people, im definitely not asian and im definitely not a moor

the people of northern africa are people that came down and destroyed and enslaved various peoples and kingdome in west africa and spread their corny religion called islam
a corollary to this question of european colonialism and imperialism is how were muslims able to conquer and enslave africans, why did we let this people in? and the reality is that its the same answer, muslims had literacy and they had technology and organization that gave them an advantage over africans

You are making it seem like the lowest African can be compared to some royalty that could read or a scholar. Wtf

but we are Malians so wrong
but we arent moors

and it took 100s of years for it to make an impact

the printing press had immediate impact, who told you it took hundreds of years?

but that is neither her nor there, the point is that there was significant portion of the european population that was literate compared to africa[/QUOTE]

And also how are you saying any of this literate stuff when Timbuktu exists. I'm still confused about the literacy stuff

im saying most of the population was illiterate, the problem with Timbuktu is that a lot of knowledge and literacy was tied to islam, so there was some literacy amongst muslims, but that is about it, the vast majority of west africans were illiterate and there wasnt even a common language much less common literacy

and what im saying is that that same situation is true today, in most african countries only about half the people are literate, if you go to major black populations in the americas like brazil, haiti and the us, literacy is a big problem

so that illiteracy existed before europeans and it has continued since them, that is part of the reason why black people are poor all over the world

I mean the learning capitol of the world somehow has not enough literacy to match Europe's. Who just learned to read and write from the moors and Asians/west Asians/middle easterners lol

the europeans learned how to write from phoenicians---->greeks--->romans

i guess if you are referring to phoenicains from 3000 years ago asians and middle easterners then go ahead

The idea that a lack of capitalistic behavior in African countries is a reason for their slow growth is completely backwards.

It's because of capitalist ideals of having completely "free markets" and a lack of state subsidies (which so-called capitalists don't even take seriously) that third world countries have experienced such poor growth.

U.S. and England (just to name a couple of the most highly developed nations) both developed into superpowers explicitly because of heavy state intervention in markets.

Read Ha-Joon Chang's Bad Samaritans for a good overview of this dynamic.

but in 2014 african countries are actually growing and have some of the fastest growing economies in the world and an expanding middle class, because of capitalism and expanding literacy

if you look at all these countries like korea, japan, singapore and china, that have been colonized, conquered and even nuked by europeans, the commonality between them is high levels of literacy and promotion of capitalism

why would africans or black people take a different approach? capitalism in africa is ending more poverty than ever before, instead of running away from capitalism africans need to double down on it, and here in the us black people need to also double down on capitalism by focusing on property ownership and business ownership, africans need to eliminate illiteracy completely and black americans need to eliminate the academic gaps and graduation gaps
