haiti will always be poor until literacy spreads
Don't believe the hype about the literacy rate, the majority of the population is literate and can speak/understand at least two languages.
Overpopulation, constant American intervention and the ramifications/remnants of the shytty French colonial system are directly to blame for Haiti's poverty.

OP compared the situation to Japan, South Korea and Singapore, but what

South Korea had Park Chung Hee, Japan had Emperor Meiji and Singapore had Lee Yew. All 3 were dictators that were allowed to do what was necessary to lift their nations out of poverty.
But what happened when other nations produced leaders that tried to better their people?
