Why are so many former Knicks dissing Patrick Ewing?

Dream won a chip with Mad Max as his #2 scorer at 14 points a game on 38% shooting. :yeshrug:

Ewing wasn't as good as Olajuwon, I think we've established that point :manny:

If the only thing you can say about him is that he wasn't as good as Jordan or Hakeem, he had a hell of a career.

All he had to do was make that layup:mjcry:

He said that when he went to drive it was to dunk but he felt pain in his knee and wasn't going to make it there so he went for the finger roll and..... well you know the rest. Missed layup, Riles faxes his resignation from the yacht and that's the end of the Knicks chapter :francis:

Even then - even if he makes that shot - that was only the ECSF, they would've had to beat a young Magic team with Shaq and Penny, that was no gimme; then beat the Rockets which I don't think was going to happen under any set of circumstances.

For all Ewing's talent, he just didnt have that killer instinct.

He had the supporting staff to win one chip.

That game 7 against the rockets in 94 was one of those moments. Everyone blames Starks really bad game but a superstar doesn't only score seventeen points in the biggest game of his career.

The championship winning legends carry their teams in those games.

Ewing was a true great. What's his demerit, he wasn't as good as Olajuwon? The Knicks were always a good team when he was there and they never really gave him much to work with until it was too late.

The fact that the majority of his prime career John Starks was the Knicks 2nd best player just shows how little the Knicks management cared about winning

Knicks always tell me Xavier Daniels leaving doomed the Knicks and they almost beat the Bulls in 1993 when he was on the team
