Above the fray.
It seems like the crime across the country among teenagers is skyrocketing and I have no idea why. When I was a teen all I wanted to do is get my license and hang out with my friends. What happened? What's going on with the young people?
Lot of ducking and dodging in this thread so far.

For those who haven't buried heads in the sand, crime spikes in some metro areas are very real. And seem to be increasingly done by teens vs previous eras where it might have been done by older men.

The spread of the once regional supergangs across the country has played a big part in deteriorating conditions in these cities. Cities that saw crew conflicts in previous eras now see gangbanging under the Blood , Crip, LK, GD affiliated sets. Dialed up the violence-retaliation cycle level.
Untraceable guns /ghost guns are on the streets now, making homicides even harder to solve. Which means that killers stay on the streets longer and murder more people.

:manny: there's no places where people particularly kids to congregate. After-school programs defunded, music defunded, malls shutting down.

They would just do their shootings, criminality and beefing with their opps at after school programs

This is nothing new. Let me tell you. As an old head.....all of these "drug lord legends" from the 80's & 90's were teenagers when they began.

Hell..... I have personal stories about myself and the people I was around during the late 90s and early 2000's that would make you vomit. Forreal.

Most crimes are committed by males from the ages of 16 thru 25. (correct me if I'm wrong but statistically I am not far off.)

This has been a human problem from the beginnig of time.

Nothing new

Teens like the ones you describe that are full blown criminals are really just not that bright and don’t like school. By your teenage years school is for the smart, ambitious, and talented kids. If you aren’t that, you really don’t like it.

A teen’s only job is to get an education so they can make something of themselves. Imagine knowing you probably won’t do much better than a lower middle class lifestyle if you try really hard.

As technology continues to separate people by intelligence levels, we will see rising crime at younger ages.

There is no way around it, you either can make it in an advanced, technological society or you can’t.

What she and others are reacting to is the spike in crime. Crime was down for decades across many parts of the country.
She is asking why is it now up.? and why increasingly violence and murder by teens?

You bringing up the teen crack era shooters and the ugliness from that era isn't really addressing what she's saying.

Do you have any data more recent data than what is displayed in the pdf file I have posted? Do you have any data to back your assertion?

JUVENILE JUSTICE STATISTICS NATIONAL REPORT SERIES FACT SHEET

According to the most recent data compiled in that series Fact Sheet, youth violent crimes have been dropping since a peak in 1996.

The Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice And Delinquency Prevention concurs with that assessment.

one idea i presenting to my folks is that the legal weed market took billions of dollars out of the local hood economies across the country.

a highschool nikka who lacked the etiquette and temperament to work regular jobs could just sell weed on the side for a couple hundred+ a week and get by. That shyt is over nowadays. No side hustle except scamming, theft (bay area) and pills now. nikkas cant just chill smoke weed and sell a few sacks to get through their daily...
