It seems like the crime across the country among teenagers is skyrocketing and I have no idea why. When I was a teen all I wanted to do is get my license and hang out with my friends. What happened? What's going on with the young people?

Actually researchers had been surprised for decades about how much youth crime had declined since the 90s. Many attributed the decline to social media and smartphone distractions. Social media is losing its novelty so maybe that's causing a mean reversion.

She is asking why is it now up.? and why increasingly violence and murder by teens?

You bringing up the teen crack era shooters and the ugliness from that era isn't really addressing what she's saying.

What I am ultimately saying is it is cyclical. Once every 20 to 30 years. especially in the black community. Look at history.

one idea i presenting to my folks is that the legal weed market took billions of dollars out of the local hood economies across the country.

a highschool nikka who lacked the etiquette and temperament to work regular jobs could just sell weed on the side for a couple hundred+ a week and get by. That shyt is over nowadays. I done seen some of the youngns be in high school pushing paid off bmw in recent years, they get on as runners for older dudes because if they get caught up they under age, they can get charge drop later.. Some of these jits was moving soo deep you woulda thought they had a jwett elective at they school.. And thats before pandemic, that was just a bonus on top..

Gun deaths among U.S. children and teens rose 50% in two years​

The number of children and teens killed by gunfire in the United States increased 50% between 2019 and 2021, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of the latest annual mortality statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, there were 1,732 gun deaths among U.S. children and teens under the age of 18. By 2021, that figure had increased to 2,590.
The gun death rate among children and teens – a measure that adjusts for changes in the nation’s population – rose from 2.4 fatalities per 100,000 minor residents in 2019 to 3.5 per 100,000 two years later, a 46% increase


Racial and ethnic differences in gun deaths among kids are stark. In 2021, 46% of all gun deaths among children and teens involved Black victims, even though only 14% of the U.S. under-18 population that year was Black. Much smaller shares of gun deaths among children and teens in 2021 involved White (32%), Hispanic (17%) and Asian (1%) victims.


Looked at another way, Black children and teens were roughly five times as likely as their White counterparts to die from gunfire in 2021. There were 11.8 gun deaths per 100,000 Black children and teens that year, compared with 2.3 gun deaths per 100,000 White children and teens. The gun death rate among Hispanic children and teens was also 2.3 deaths per 100,000 in 2021, while it was lower among Asian children and teens (0.9 per 100,000).

The reason is the closing of schools during the pandemic it gave a bunch of at risk kids the opportunity to get caught in gangs and just bullshyt crime with other youth
