A lot of white people's superiority complexes are derived from their willingness to explore new things. Nothing confuses and frustrates them more than a black person that is open minded, but still refuses to kiss their asses.
Dude, I feel like I've been living proof of this.

When you ain't into the "typical" things black people are into.....white people see you as more of a threat than a pleasantry.

I've been feeling that lowkey cism as a black man making electronica music and DJing over the past 20 years.

When I tell them, I'm a DJ...they automatically go assume I make rap/hip-hop.

When I tell them I don't, the conversation goes one of two ways...

They either become more interested and want to know more...
Or
They just become lowkey annoyed and frustrated with the convo and mad that I'm not the stereotypical black man they thought I was. And try to leave.

I ain't kissing white people's asses either nor do I want their validation or respect. I've been doing this for 20 years, I'll do it for 20 years more with or without them. Their opinion of me matters the least in my eyes. My opinion of me matters the most.

It's just a damning revelation. White people really don't associate artistry, or intelligence, or culture with black people, they automatically assume they are the pinnacle of this. When that reality gets flipped on they head...they get mad.

Which is why I say white people been hiding mad inferiority complexes under the guise of "superiority".

A little goes a long way, I think. By that, I mean, I'm thinking about the childhood experience of many black American kids, or least the ones I knew coming up. It was subtley imbued with the notion that curiosity was problematic or, at the very least, inconvenient.

That included getting a speech like "don't look at shyt, don't ask for shyt" whenever we went into the store with an adult as a kid, getting told it was disrespectful to even ask a question or express an emotion or thought contrary to that of the adult taking care of us, or just being told someone else knows better for you than you do for your own damn self.

Thus, the foundation is laid early. All children are naturally curious, I believe, but if you grow up in an environment where your curiosity is an inconvenience for adults, like your inquisitions are deemed insubordination, it is easy to suppress that natural need to explore and question.

If you are unfortunate enough to go through life never having something to break you from that programming, then you may run it for the rest of your life and, worse yet, reproduce and indoctrinate your kids into the same ways.

Just my two cents.

Yeah, their whole M.O. is to colonize anything and everything they can. Undermining and boxing people out is what has gotten them to where they're at in society today.

Black people are curious but we aren't going to put ourselves in danger needlessly. Fear of the unknown isn't really unique to black ppl either

i get that....

but as a whole...OP is right...we arent that curious....

Im the opposite...i want to see...i want to experience

whats the point of living, and not living?

Individual power is not that much to be honest.

A collective is literally comprised of many individuals though.

That being said, can you imagine how much different the world would look if every single individual took 100% for every single thing he said and did and the consequences thereof, not blaming any of his thoughts, feelings and actions on someone else in any way, but, instead, approaching every situation in life introspectively?

:whew:That would be a beautiful world.

Gang violence...
we are about as curious as anybody else, controlling for life circumstances and opportunities. since most black americans are relatively poor or one paycheck away from losing their "middle class" existence, it would make more sense to compare our curiosity to poor whites, and even then it isnt really a great comparison due to other social factors. i do think that due to our unique circumstances, our curiosities are pointed in a different direction, for good or bad

basically, we think of that smart, upper middle class white guy who builds his own glider, we dont think of that broke redneck who doesnt believe in climate change. blacks as a whole should not be compared to some privileged white demographic. sadly, our circumstances are not comfortable enough.

Who knows

But I will say some of the greatest social movements and discoveries came too because of people playing their position. Not everyone is meant to be a leader, innovator.

Some people are better suited to help stronger people realize their goals.

fukking Dream world, the wild thing is that it is entirely possible too. Being an individual is not that hard if you focus on yourself but most people don't. Even suggesting that as a motive of action is alienated

Of course militants would respond with their "we're too busy worrying about white supremacy" rhetoric :mjlol:
The truth is, white American culture is more adventurous than black American culture hence them doing more bizarro shyt.

Black American culture is too much of a hive mind to be opened to new ideas.

OP you're making the mistake of looking at a small part of the population and making a generalization about the whole. People in general are not curious, and cacs are no exception. If you don't believe me go to small town USA, look at the conservative ideology these people adhere to. Anything out of their right wing pseudo Christian worldview and they go ape shyt. Blacks are a small portion of the population and as a result you come across far less of the statistical outliers.

That in turn feeds into itself; when very few blacks are in the sciences, for imstance, very few blacks are encouraged to pursue it. As they say, a crowd draws a crowd.

Yeah i am aware that many people are not curious but i notice it more (and care about more so) in blacks people, but i hear you
