I tried and I did.
For the past 2.5 years, I looked and put bids on a number of spots here in Los Angeles. A lot of spots around East Hollywood, Highland Park, Adams Blvd, Inglewood and Baldwin Hills had some nice deals going.
However, I was outbid by hipsters and investors who would pay straight cash homie. Or maybe they saw me and went to another bidder, who knows?
Also, when I tried to buy, the seller had my offer along with 20-30 others. I had 100K saved up with a 800+ credit score and these cats were like, "naw."
I ended up getting a spot in the heart of a re-gentrified Hollywood after setting up a meeting with an agent before he had the open house. It was a brotha and the first time meeting I was like "my African, you know what time it is.

"
Got the spot and I wasn't even the highest bidder.
The only problem I see with trying to chase where the black people reside or can re-gentrify is that we as a people seem too nomadic.

I want to live in an area like Harlem, off Cascade in Atlanta, or Baldwin Hills but a lot of times, black areas become Spanish, then white after a few years because we're too busy trying to move to the 'burbs
or wherever white people live.
My neighborhood (Pleasant Grove) in my hometown of Dallas was 90% black when I grew up. Now that shyt is 90% Spanish and the majority of brothas have moved to the suburbs
while gentrification is happening back in the hoods (South Dallas, Oak Cliff).
