Teachers in general get no respect in American society. And for Black teachers teaching at Black schools, the job could be even worse. I know a few black people who became teachers for a few years and then gave it up. I'd imagine the main stressor is trying to help kids who just don't give a fukk about anything. You have people who genuinely want to help black students achieve their full potential but so many of these kids don't appreciate it. It's like each generation is worse than the last one. That burns people out after a while.

I know a shyt load of people who got teaching degrees and said they wanted to make a difference and work in poor inner city black schools. Every single one of them left after a few years because they couldn't deal with the chaos, violence, disrespect, etc from the students and their parents.

That's what I'm talking about. Nowadays, the parents are just as trifling as their damn kids. It just feels like this generation of kids have no moral compass whatsoever because they never had any parental guidance. They were raised off of television and rap music.

I think the problem is that they thought they can change every student they meet. You cannot save everybody, some people like being ignorant. Save the ones you can and let the other ones go:manny:

The pay is ass and not a respected profession.

You're better off being a professor.
