shytty ass job where you gotta deal with bad ass kids
Part of the job is helping the youth... A lot of teachers really aren't meant to be teachers

I'm from South LA and I can say I only had 3 black male teacher from elementary school to high school.
Since your in school my advise is to go to teacher fairs and network with the employers there; even if your not a junior or senior. It's really building relationships. If you see a brother there go and ask for some assistance. He will help you unless he's a tom; also getting a degree in a STEM major will help your stock value.
I'm telling you from experience because I did it; I had teaching jobs lined up for me in Chicago, Louisiana and North Texas; but my school fukked me over. It's all good.
The school system really needs more black male counselors who can connect with the black, at risk children.
There's more black teachers than you'd think, but they're mostly in the Elementary grades.
My family all taught for CPS... idk how they did it...I personally don't have the patience to be a teacher especially with kids from 8th-12th grade.I'd eventually knock one of them out
My moms was a teacher for 30+ years

Yup my mother worked directly across the street from the robert taylor homes.51st and state at john farren then the kindergarten school next to beasley. She taught like k-3rd grade most of her career
Damn, you said the Robert Taylor Homes so was the in the 80-90's?"Money Mase"I would like to be a high school teacher. So, after I finish up at my current position, next step is to become a high school bio/chem teacher and a linebacker coach in high school.
On the real my goal is to become a high school principal because there are not that many black male high school principals.

EXTREMELY high stress. The profession is high stress and low pay. I had a guy friend that became a math teacher, taught for a yr at a local high school, and then quit. He said that he got too close to going to jail cus of them damn kids. Now he works in sports management and is much happier.![]()
