i have no idea what that means, im just explaining to you that a family of 10 that is getting 100K from a hair store is wealthier than a family of 2 getting 20K

there is a huge wealth gap right there

if you dont like how wealth is defined then dont use the word wealth in making your points, just say that you are talking about cash

cash and wealth are different things, if your think cash is more important then just say that, but dont try to say there is no wealth in a hair store, there is a lot of wealth in a hair store even if it has little cash or profit

As usual you'd rather argue semantics than real life.

Poverty is poverty it doesn't matter how much "wealth" you have on paper.

:salute: on your endeavors....

However, you are speaking on a sector of business\technology that blacks are now starting to get their feet wet in over the last decade....We are extremely behind in this arena and you will have to give it time before we can establish a footprint in it.

We have always been concerned about getting money, not exploring innovation because quite frankly, we have never been a position comfortable enough where we could sit back and not worry about not having money coming in.......

My stance is that if we can't control the resources and establishments in our own area, how do we expect to have a foundation to move on to controlling something much greater?

I agree. It may not happen this generation but I have high hope for the next. I recently gave a speech at my sons school(career day). The school was mostly black and hispanic. I went in thinking the kids were going to fall asleep if I talked about just programming. So i mixed it in with Games and Math. mannn the looks on their faces and the questions they asked( I was surprised by their questions lol) And now since computers are almost common place in households I know for sure that one day the microsofts/googles etc will be founded by a black person growing up today.

lol at taking home 8,000 dollars a month and owning a successful business and still being on foodstamps. You're crazy.

I don't care if you have 20 kids, you can maintain...

The Asians that own these hair stores families and employees still collect foodstamps. It comes down to the money available per person. 10k per person is pretty much the same no matter if you have 1 or 10 people.

yeah definitely, i am not talking about "real life" i am talking about vocabulary, because if you are using different vocabularies than we arent really communicating

so get your vocabulary straight

so again if you are talking about cash, then say you are talking about cash

but dont use the word wealth when you are talking about cash

i am definitely not talking about "real life" whatever the fuk that is, i was talking about wealth, opening up a hair store will increase your wealth, whether it increases the amount of money in your pocket is an open question

^^what he said.

If you don't address single parent homes you will never solve poverty.

Education soles poverty. Do you see the conditions of the schools in these neighborhoods, I've been in jails more welcoming.

The kids they are willing to learn cannot thrive in an environment that is demoralizing, where they have no materials or tools to learn with, let alone teachers who give a damn.

If the wealthty blacks built schools, they would become wealthier, and our community would also become wealthier

:snoop: hair shops and restaurants are the same type of high risk low reward businesses your article was talking about.

no it wasnt, the article was saying that a lot of black business do not have any employees

That's all due to modern technology that lets them extract resources they were not able to collect in the past while America was leaving the rest of the world behind. There were no oil rigs in the 1500s

yeah but brazil still had slaves and it still had resources

I'm married to a black woman

and that "multi billion dolar industry" stuff is a line from a Chris rock movie that I've never seen substantiated by any real data.

There can be a "black" tech industry or a "black" anything else industry. The weave industry is very limited. In opening a business you want to appeal to the broadest base of customers as possible. You shouldn't pigenhole yourself to one type of consumer.

The Asians that own these hair stores are not making a bunch of money. They are making just enough to scrape by. I see no value in pushing people torward opening business that will just let the scrape by. It's the hair distributors in India/Asia that are making the money and there is no way for us to take their positions.

:jawalrus:

Again, who doesn't control an industry where they are the main consumers...

Yall internet dudes love to talk about a source on this or that...

I guess you don't think Chris Rock didn't do his research before making a documentary because he's a negro huh? Surely he didn't do his due diligence because he's too lazy and not intelligent enough to do such..:mjpls:

I didn't get that figure from Chris and it has been explicitly stated via the media and publications that the black hair industry is a billion dollar plus industry........

But since you and only you says that its not, I guess everyone else is wrong..

This is what's up. I believe we got next over the next 40-50 years. I think our artistic visions that show up in entertainment and athletics can cross over into the tech arena and offer the world something it's never seen before.......

The real problem is the belief within the black community that the cards are so stacked against us, that there is no point in even trying to climb the ladder.

Each generation is fed this idea, and it has rotted our community to the core.

:sadcam:

wanted to add:

The governments support/enabling of this idea has played a huge role as well. The Democratic party, being the biggest offenders.

To the people that make big money we are not the main consumers. We are only the main consumers of the small local shops. We can take over those shops, but it wouldn't bring big money to our communities because the big money will still have to be shipped to Asia/India.

A lot of people say a lot of incorrect shyt on the Internet:manny:

[quoteI guess you don't think Chris Rock didn't do his research before making a documentary because he's a negro huh? Surely he didn't do his due diligence because he's too lazy and not intelligent enough to do such..:mjpls:[/quote]
:mindblown: what the fukk are you talking about. I'm the one on here everyday fighting the "negroes are lazy and unintelligent" shyt people be talking.

I say Chris rock didn't do his research because he was making a movie for entertainment purposes. And that figure has never been backed up by real data, it's just been repeated so many times that people believe it.

I didn't get that figure from Chris and it has been well explicitly stated via the media and publications that the black hair industry is a billion dollar plus industry........

No since there has NEVER been any real data/analysis on the issue I choose not to believe in a one-liner from a Chris rock movie.

You said it was a multi billion dollar business that black people should be able to take over. Do you have any proof of that?

theres certain segments of the black population that need to step up and take responsibility:

1) religious institutions

yeah yeah theres alot of corruption etc within these organizations but man, considering how many churches there are, do they not offer breakfast programs, extra curricular activities, cultural/heritage events and lessons? they need to be that extra parent that some of these households lack ("it takes a village to raise a child")

2) successfull rich black folks

could you imagine if some of these rappers, atheletes, entertainers, entreprenuers actually put their wealth together and created venture capital firms or credit unions that specifically focused on the black community?
imagine the benefit of providing loans for schools, busnesses, homes etc
