Why can't Black politics produce a Black version of Zohran Mamdani?

Ayana Pressley is and Jamal Bowman, and Cori Bush were progressive Black members of Congress but kinda milktoast cause they had 0 smoke for their own party and wouldn't vote as a block.
Both of them represented MAJOR jewish districts and they neglected influential parts of their constituencies to crash out for Hamas. Everyone else managed to thread the needle of humanitarian aid for Palestinians.. Stop crying and go win your backyard.

Again, they got PRIMARIED by other democrats.

They should have withheld their vote to confirm Pelosi and got some real Progressive energy popping in the party way before that. They were too chicken to go against the party. And then yes, the Jewish lobby dumped a lot of money in their races when they tried to do the right thing in Gaza.

Funny you say this op. Just listened to a This American Life episode on Harold Washington, first black mayor of Chicago and they link him to Mamdani.

Basically, no matter who you talking about , the answer is simple but seems sort hard for a politician to come along and do it. Talk like the people you are trying to get to vote for you. They told this nikka Harold that he needed to get married to win. He said fukk you I ain’t getting married because I don’t want to and you can’t make me. Just be sincere and honest. Also being fearless goes a long way.

Too many politicians or wannabe politicians, black and otherwise, are basically products being sold by their donors. They don’t connect with average people. They are afraid to say things not told to say by their corporate donors and consultants.

Here is the episode I mentioned. It’s worth listening to. Especially when they play clips of him cooking other folks on stage :mjlol:

Democrats tried to destroy this man when he had a shot. Even backed the independent who switched from democrat just to run against him in the general. All because he dared to be black. But he turned out the black vote and won.

This literally wouldn’t have worked. You refuse to acknowledge that you might actually be on the losing side of an argument.

Why don't we see Black progressives especially on the local level? We get Muriel Bowsers who are basically republican light.

I ask this because in Atlanta the race for city council president we have a corporate dem Black woman running against a clone of Zohran.

She's pro public safety, pro corporatist, republican light and he's a progressive that is probably bad on immigration.

Why can't we get a Black progressive that will work on behave of Black Americans?

Why is Black politics so damn terrible right now?

The FBA/ADOS movement is the only sliver of hope we have to get people that align with our interests.

Fixed

And this is the golden key. And outside observers know this

We have had some over the years but they didn't get the lime light as Zohran.

Ben Jealous had the same policies as Zohran (forming universal health care in Maryland, using state money to solve food deserts, expanding public transportation lines, etc ...) won the Democratic primary for governor, and got no publicity from mainstream media. He'll, online leftists like Hasan, the majority report, or Kukliński even mentioned him let alone demanded that every national politician endorse him.

Even though we have a black governor in West Moore, I'm still kind of like warm on him since Ben Jealous would have made for a more influential governor than Moore.

Actually we don't know what or who Mamdani is going to turn out to be. So perhaps its wise to wait and assess midterm. Eg. Lots of people had high hopes for Adams in NYC and look at he turned out . Couldn't even run for a second term on his own ticket.

As far as Mamdani goes. It's easy to talk the talk when you don't wear the crown
Nobody should have had high hopes for Adams:russ:

I have seen it work before. Withhold confirmation of congress leader for some concessions. Are you denying that?
Oh is that what you do? Concede in arguments when you are on the losing side? :mjlol:

Yeah Brandon Johnson is the probably the best example I don't like his handling of the immigration issue but he's been one of the most progressive Black politicians we have had the last few years.
This. I live under the man's policies and he's goofed a lot but people don't really like progressives if they don't like him, lmao.

Also, Zohran is for EVERYBODY. If people want a black progressive who is on "black only" time, they will be sorely disappointed. That doesn't win seats.
