Why cant Nintendo stop fukking around and crush buildings!?

Everyone I know had a Wii so I'm not sure where the 20 year slumber statement comes from. This thread also shows that there is a demand for A Nintendo console from older gamers but the Wii U just isnt something some are willing to invest in. This gen showed that all 3 companies can thrive in the market so I don't see where you're going with this.

Also, like how last gen peeps raved and talked about Uncharted, Mass Effect, Last of Us, and Gears. Or the gen prior when peeps raved about Halo, GTA, Splinter Cell, MGS2, and KOTAR, where are the Nintendo level game to those franchises?

Software and hardware numbers disagree. Could you link me to these numbers that tell you that nobody is using their Wii? If not than these are assumptions from a known MS fanboy. The Wii's biggest is problem is its power so its obvious not going to be getting a lot of multiplat games late in this gen.

If you're looking for notable software then Wii Sports is an easy one to point out and it was one of the biggest IPs released this gen. Mario Galaxy is also one of the highest rated games ever. Since I'm so uninformed, do me a favor, tomorrow take a poll and ask everyone here did Nintendo win the last gen over Xbox and PS3, or was it the better system. Just curious to see the response.

disks were cheaper but nintendo wanted to use cartridges (N64), many devs pulled out & went to ps... nintendo has the strongest first party line up (mario, zelda, pokemon, metroid), the first wii crushed the buildings, they dominate the handheld market........ theyre comfortable.... they own SEGA....

the thing is these casual gamers (your GF and parents) arent going to continue to spend money on the newer systems. They have the, well it still works why replace it mindset with technology. Nintendo is going to struggle with the wi u until they make something real gamers want and give them a reason to buy the system. the original wi worked because the xb and ps3 owners thought they were serious about making games that they would like, but after buying the system and seeing how long it took for games to come out, they lost interest. So yea it sold initially but once we realized Nintendo didnt have any new IP's, the system now collects dust.

The Wi U numbers would like to have a word with you, you ever wonder why ps4 and xb1 went on to sell 2mill in two weeks and nintendo hasnt? its not because nintendo is superior or even has any games or features anyone cares about. it not because sony has abandoned the ps3, they still have games coming out.. It because the Wii was/is a gimmick, the masses will not fall for that same gimmick again.

Software and hardware numbers from early in the gen dont prove people are STILL playing their Wii. If anything the massive drop in new software sales indicate people have moved on in droves.

Fact is the Wii brought in a huge number of people who arent really gamers, for example people in nursing homes, soccer moms, etc....Those people dont typically support systems gen after gen. They hopped onto the Wii train because it was a interesting gimmick and then moved on. The actual gamers by and large feel burned by the Wii. You got a couple legit games and the rest was mini-game garbage or shovelware. Then they come out with the successor and it looks like the same shyt, but now the gimmick isnt new or interesting.

its targeted for younger kids who might have been affected by the 3D. younger kids break the hinges on DS'. also, its made with a single screen underneath it because its cheaper than two screens. its not a successor to the 3DS, its just a cheaper more child friendly option.

obviously seeing alot of studios close and after the Tomb Raider shyt its pretty clear that there is something wrong with the budgeting behind some games (unless of course your game is GTA). its one of the reasons game engines get recycled so much and successful franchises get ran into the ground these days, cause thats a cheaper more predictable way to make AAA games without needing to start from scratch. i dont think AAA titles are going to disappear completely as many of them are still profitable, but i do think nintendo is playing a different strategy in not pushing for the most graphically advanced (expensive) game development. it worked for them last gen which is one of the reasons why they were able to make such a great profit while the other two struggled. a difference this time however is that the other two consoles are far more similar to PCs in architecture, which will help streamline development on those systems. its a bit of give and take but i think nintendo could still come out well if they can shift enough units.

personally, i think nintendo should have different games in development for each character in smash bros. that game could be such a big marketing tool in boosting hype for each characters own game. i mean, really, people who play smash bros become familiar with the characters and would be more inclined to buy games featuring those characters. it just makes sense to me for each of those characters to have their own new game.

I can't remember any GameCube games other than that Zelda game and surprised seeing a MGS and resident evil game
