yep, but at the same time, those channels have no cultural relevance. people that get mad play on those stations are still considered avant garde.

mtv2 actually has hosts, but they suck and nobody watches that chit. same with fuse. its like both of those stations go out of their way to cater hip-hop towards non-blacks and shut us out.
its not so much non blacks and hip hip is what i'm saying.. ALL genres and channels go through this

where's all the country music on CMT
where's all the old classics on VH1
where's the rock and roll on MTV

none of these channels even play videos anymore.. the ones that do with a host, are cheap little set ups.. cheap to make, but high ratings, which means you can sell higher price commercials

they don't give a damn about the quality of the show, music or host... they want your money.. cause unless you sitting in front of the computer or little phone all day... the ONLY way you gonna get videos all day is those channels

with apple tv and smart tvs and game consoles.. even that is changing cause you can stream youtube.. these companies ain't about to lose money by paying for great shows that nobody is watching cause love and hip hop is on.. you want videos?? pay us and we'll give you them non stop

Maybe because there isn't anymore rapping, just a bunch of autotune singing shyt that garbage...

pretty much. i remember it got to a point where the only people i knew that were still watching rap city were commercial dudes or people that just didnt know anybody.

nobody took the show seriously. all the way down to most of the hosts.

and this was even before autotune, so i couldnt imagine that show being around now. it would be a nightmare for them to bring the show back for these wack rap cats.

yea, i get that. but it goes deeper than that too. yes all of that makes sense on the business end, but most of these shows had already fell flat on their faces beforehand due to the lack of quality music. the same way people like to blame the lack of sales solely on downloading and such, but when was the last time we've heard a truly classic rap album? its been over a decade.

i was just pointing out how the shows that do have hosts are mostly irrelevant culture-vulture viewing. sort of like what rap city had became towards the end of its run, but far worst actually.

also, there really isnt any music that people are seriously clamoring for these days anyway. with the exception of noobs, most people just keep up with most of this music chit out of habit.

ahh yes. the sudden cancellations of BET Tonight & BET News.

its no coincidence that most black talk radio stations eventually starting getting bought out and/or taken off the air a few years later. and now we have craziness going on like trayvon/zimmerman and such. i havnt even heard a peep in ages about that white dude that killed that black woman just for knocking on his door. they got rid of that story quick.

Yep, they swept the culture away from everyone's eyes and no one stands up against injustice anymore

No one cares anymore. That's one of the major differences now I think. Not to mention, people like sitting on the fence and not having to choose a side if they don't have to. That way they can't lose anything.

That is what happens when people main motive is to make money. it neuters the fighting spirit, mixed in with the promotion of alcohol, weed, bytches, flashy cars, and so on.

I clearly remember what happened, they went in a direction and kept switching hosts and the time slots for the show and ratings got bad to the point they had to cancel it. It got replaced by that show "The deal", which got didn't even last long, not to mention it was a wack show. Hell date got cancelled for "the boot". Selling BET to the Jews was one of the worst mistakes ever. Red, Meth, Buckshot,Q-Tip and others spoke out about BET and the powers that be.

Honestly it possibly might have been a good move for them. The music video business model was going to become obsolete do to youtube anyways. Im not saying they had that foresight but in hindsight it may not have been a bad move.

Pretty much. I can go to youtube on my phone to watch videos instantly.

And even if I didn't have youtube I'm not gonna be home watching music videos like when I was 15 anyway

A large percentage of the "hit" songs today I've never seen the videos for

They cancelled it a little after the basement. They went in a glossier direction so you had new cats come in and host but nothing really worked then it got the boot. But BET is a distant memory to me so fukk em. Ever since that "little brother is too intelligent for our audience" nonsense they been on my shyt list and I haven't watched since 04 or 05 :pacspit:
i wish there was a certain thing as super dap, lol. this says it all right here...
