. But of course, people I know who still watched it after that said "well, they weren't talking about me" and yes they were, as you are a part of their audience. I'd rather watch TV1 over that shyt station any day of the week and twice on Sundays. BET is lowest common denominator television, plain and simple. I give them props for the Gospel programming they do but that's where it stopsI'm saying, who honestly gives a fukk about that channel anymore? The second they came out insulting their audience with that bull,. meh.
unless you were just watching the channel for music purposes, chances are you still watch. it was never meant to be just a music channel in the first place, correct me if im wrong.
tv-one is better tho. yes.
Of course it was never meant to be just a music channel but I'm talking programming overall they're in the dumps and to make it worse they thew that diss years ago
what you dont like about their current programming?
what diss did they throw? i missed it.
back in the day) but it also dug deeper and found that Debra Lee said that Little Brother wasn't relevant to their audience and to that I say "well make them relevant by playing the video" because at that point in time, mainstream exposure is how artists became relevant to an audience. So if you're saying they're too intelligent then that's a diss to your audience but if you're saying they're not relevant to your audience then you're being lazy, that's how I see it. Rap City, at least when it was The Basement and previous incarnations, put me on to artists that I'd never heard of and wouldn't have heard otherwise because radio wasn't playing them and this was before anyone could just google any artists or put on pandora. Never would've heard of Talib Kweli had it not been for Rap City hell or Little Brother It's fukked up how they cancelled rap city...I used to rush home frm school in middle school (2002-2005) to watch the show...

rap city was already trash by then
and yeah i'm![]()
Whoa breh, I'm going to disagree. Rap City didn't become trash until Tigger left so that's 04 I think. Ease up on us lol
trash may have been harsh, but no where near the best years though, Joe Clair era was the best imo
Back in 04 or 05 when the minstrel show came out and little brother was promoting it, they wouldn't play the video because they said it was too intelligent for their audience so at that point I said fukk em. That was the diss

Now of course, their official response said it wasn't true in that context (the story actually ran onback in the day) but it also dug deeper and found that Debra Lee said that Little Brother wasn't relevant to their audience and to that I say "well make them relevant by playing the video" because at that point in time, mainstream exposure is how artists became relevant to an audience. As far as current programming it's nothing but movies and reruns of old sitcoms and I feel like for us as a people it would be nice if the channel was more all encompassing like tv1. Now obviously tv1 has Cathy Hughes behind it so she's of a different mindset than Debra lee but I'd like more than reality shows, family matters reruns and the bet awards.
i thought "the diss" was some chit that was said on-air or something. lol. what a letdown. i was sitting here waiting like
lol. i mentioned the little brother thing already.i thought "the diss" was some chit that was said on-air or something. lol. what a letdown. i was sitting here waiting like
eh, BET has original shows too. and TV-ONE half-way follows the same blueprint. they show a gang of syndicated sitcoms and old movies as well, cuz thats what people want to see. and i dont know why that would be considered a knock for BET. white stations do this ALL THE TIME as well. its STANDARD CABLE TELEVISION. why doesnt anybody ever criticize TBS, TNT, FX, etc etc?
but yea, tv-one is better. but im just saying. only problem i have with BET right now is all the c00ning that they do, whereas TV-ONE is one the opposite end of the spectrum and provides that content that BET been lackin since the buyout.
