Name a player that didn't have a flashy game, that didn't have an outgoing personality and wasn't into social media that was a Madison Avenue star breh.

1.) he looks cool
2.) looks like he got some real hood in him
3.) isn't flashy but hes always yammin on niccas and has handles too.

also most of these players on social media are dweebs.

that's on his agents and/or the shoe companies.

he was certainly popular enough.

over the course of the past 27 years, I can think of a lot of players who were popular with kids, teens, adults that should've had endorsements over some of the guys that did. so that argument is neither here nor there.

Popularity doesn't equate marketability breh.

and marketability doesn't equate to popularity.

kawhi naturally appeals to the urban demographic. its very easy to market him that way and the rest of the world would hop on the bandwagon. and hes already a big star so it wouldn't take much for "Madison ave" to hop the fence.

but they don't market players like that anymore. they stick them with goofball chit and wonder why theyre not getting the intended results out of these dudes.

If anybody ever read Deion Sanders book "Power, Money and Sex" he pretty much gives you the blueprint on how an athlete should market himself. He tells the story of how and why he created the Primetime character.

He created the character because historically cornerbacks had never got paid the money that he wanted by teams nor in endorsements and he wanted to get paid. So he became flashy, he started talking more, he became boisterous, he rocked jewelry before athletes rocked gaudy jewelry. He became so much of a character that you either loved him or you hated him but either way you tuned in to cheer or jeer for or against him. Apathy wasn't an option.

It's pretty simple, you can be great at your sport and don't sell your personality ala Andre Ward or you can be great at your sport and a character and be box office like Floyd Money Mayweather. Floyd's fights sold because he had personality that sold it....have you ever been to an Andre Ward fight party? Neither have I and I'm from Oakland.

I get paid to do marketing consulting...I'm dropping free jewels to y'all.

youre jumping to different sports. give me some basketball examples.

no disrespect but regardless of your title, I bet I could sell product to the hood better than anybody in your office. so the whole marketing consultant thing is neither here nor there. yall havnt done a good job in YEARS with that consumer base.
