Those shoes could've been named @Bigblackted4 and they would've still sold if Nike kept that same price on em. Arguably the best looking Nike shoe ever.By the way Tim Duncan Nike’s sold well and it was a great shoe

Name a player that didn't have a flashy game, that didn't have an outgoing personality and wasn't into social media that was a Madison Avenue star breh.
You just described Monta Ellis and he never got shine off the court while Steph did.1.) he looks cool
2.) looks like he got some real hood in him
3.) isn't flashy but hes always yammin on niccas and has handles too.
also most of these players on social media are dweebs.

Popularity doesn't equate marketability breh.that's on his agents and/or the shoe companies.
he was certainly popular enough.

If anybody ever read Deion Sanders book "Power, Money and Sex" he pretty much gives you the blueprint on how an athlete should market himself. He tells the story of how and why he created the Primetime character.
He created the character because historically cornerbacks had never got paid the money that he wanted by teams nor in endorsements and he wanted to get paid. So he became flashy, he started talking more, he became boisterous, he rocked jewelry before athletes rocked gaudy jewelry. He became so much of a character that you either loved him or you hated him but either way you tuned in to cheer or jeer for or against him. Apathy wasn't an option.
It's pretty simple, you can be great at your sport and don't sell your personality ala Andre Ward or you can be great at your sport and a character and be box office like Floyd Money Mayweather. Floyd's fights sold because he had personality that sold it....have you ever been to an Andre Ward fight party? Neither have I and I'm from Oakland.
I get paid to do marketing consulting...I'm dropping free jewels to y'all.
