facebook also had a more targeted user foundation with college students. Zuckerberg was a genius starting with the people that were destined to network socially (college kids) right at the time the social aspect of internet use came to the forefront. He started with the people that would need to use this form of networking in the future once they graduated. college students had computers, unlimited internet access, free time, and the social networks already built into their lives. he just built a social network to harvest that activity. myspace didn't have a target audience. anybody could join, so it wasn't exclusive. i remember when nikkas was trying to get fake college e-mails so they could have a facebook. facebook used to be way more powerful in the beginning. it was like a special club. i remember when i first got my CUNY email i was hype i could finally get facebook.
Dumbest shyt you ever wrote.Ghetto people got tired of seeing ghetto people.
MySpace was the best social networking platform out there when it was working smoothly.
A couple of problems tho:
1 - The site was broken, way too many errors trying to do things
2 - Ads were obtrusive
3 - Allowed HTML coding...personalization is cool, but freezing a modern computer at that time is not cool.
4 - Did not control spam very well and accounts were hijacked too often.
5 - Had different account types...regular myspace and myspace music...WTF for? Just allow everyone the option with ONE SIGN UP PROCESS
6 - There are more but I can't remember them all right now
MySpace in it's prime was still better than Facebook at connecting people. Facebook prides itself in connecting people, but I think it does a terrible job at doing so. At best Facebook just allows you to stay connected to people you already met...not connecting new people. Is it a privacy issue? Maybe, but searching within radius, age group, and last online is a more effective way to get people to interact with each other and build relationships. MySpace was broken because there seemingly was no real structure underneath the website. It should have been able to crush facebook for the simple search features that facebook till this day does not have.
- MySpace > Facebook as a name also.
The creator of Myspace knew that Facebook was becoming a real threat and eventually Myspace would become a thing of the pass. He sold it to a news group for 150million i believe, but the news group didn't market Myspace and it eventually led to its downfall.myspace used to be the premier social networking site..how did they fall off so hard? how did they let facebook set shop and take over the social networking game?
That's what made Facebook Bigger though. Fb could never be as big as it is now with only college students.real talk, y'all going to call it c00ning but it's because of ghetto black people. when facebook provided the alternative, white flight happened. then when fb allowed anyone to join, fb got shytty as hell. just saying, man.
