Myspace failed because all the girls moved to twitter and instagram. and facebook was the better way to contact your real friends and family online

MySpace was the best social networking platform out there when it was working smoothly.

A couple of problems tho:
1 - The site was broken, way too many errors trying to do things
2 - Ads were obtrusive
3 - Allowed HTML coding...personalization is cool, but freezing a modern computer at that time is not cool.
4 - Did not control spam very well and accounts were hijacked too often.
5 - Had different account types...regular myspace and myspace music...WTF for? Just allow everyone the option with ONE SIGN UP PROCESS
6 - There are more but I can't remember them all right now

MySpace in it's prime was still better than Facebook at connecting people. Facebook prides itself in connecting people, but I think it does a terrible job at doing so. At best Facebook just allows you to stay connected to people you already met...not connecting new people. Is it a privacy issue? Maybe, but searching within radius, age group, and last online is a more effective way to get people to interact with each other and build relationships. MySpace was broken because there seemingly was no real structure underneath the website. It should have been able to crush facebook for the simple search features that facebook till this day does not have.

MySpace > Facebook as a name also.

once people started designing their pages, it was a wrap. i used to hate pages taking 20 minutes just to load. sometimes simple is better. thats why facebook and twitter aren't going anywhere.

facebook also had a more targeted user foundation with college students. Zuckerberg was a genius starting with the people that were destined to network socially (college kids) right at the time the social aspect of internet use came to the forefront. He started with the people that would need to use this form of networking in the future once they graduated. college students had computers, unlimited internet access, free time, and the social networks already built into their lives. he just built a social network to harvest that activity. myspace didn't have a target audience. anybody could join, so it wasn't exclusive. i remember when nikkas was trying to get fake college e-mails so they could have a facebook. facebook used to be way more powerful in the beginning. it was like a special club. i remember when i first got my CUNY email i was hype i could finally get facebook.

Zuckerberg was the genius or the twins he jacked the idea from? :mjpls:

  • MySpace > Facebook as a name also.
  • The myspace / myspace music is similar to the facebook / fanpage. (so I doubt that was one of the contributing factors)
  • bootleg rappers on myspace is similar to the party promoter on facebook. (so I doubt that was one of the contributing factors)
  • Other people in this thread said "ghetto people"...that's dumb because you pick and choose who you interact with so Im pretty sure Molly from Santa Monica didn't have to worry about "ghetto people" (you guys are c00ns).
I agree with yall when it comes to what made myspace hot...that damn search feature was the TRUTH!!!. You can meet bytches in your area, you can even specify the body types, race, height and other shyt too :ohlawd:

Facebook will never have a good search feature because people are already beginning to distrust them as far as privacy goes and because of that facebook gives users the option to make them selves invisible in the search which defeats the purpose. Plus everybody acts extra guarded and boogie on facebook so its harder to meet new people.

Facebook is like going to a formal party with family and people you work with are going to be there. Myspace is like going to a club with half naked, drunk bad bytches.

myspace used to be the premier social networking site..how did they fall off so hard? how did they let facebook set shop and take over the social networking game?
The creator of Myspace knew that Facebook was becoming a real threat and eventually Myspace would become a thing of the pass. He sold it to a news group for 150million i believe, but the news group didn't market Myspace and it eventually led to its downfall.

real talk, y'all going to call it c00ning but it's because of ghetto black people. when facebook provided the alternative, white flight happened. then when fb allowed anyone to join, fb got shytty as hell. just saying, man.
That's what made Facebook Bigger though. Fb could never be as big as it is now with only college students.

And if you don't deal with ghetto people how are they even a factor?

In my opinion there are aspects of fb that make it shytty. For example everything wanting or needing to connect with Facebook. Absolutely no privacy. They're always doing pointless upgrades. Now they have to many page suggestions that they think u will like on your news feeds.

MySpace was laggy depending on whose page you went on. I liked that I could customize my page because I'm unique. Facebooks set up is boring.

MySpace was annoying because people were hyped about the top friends and the drama.

Other than that I really don't remember what was so bad about MySpace it was the same concept that Facebook has.

I got rid of mine almost 4 yrs ago though

The thing that makes Facebook so relavent is the fact that they connect with other sites so u can like a fb page or like something involving Facebook without even being up there. I think if MySpace had came out in like 2010 people would still be up there.
