why did NFL 2k5 become so popular

The developers knew football and the mechanics of it .You can watch a game and it moved seamlessly like a NFL game. From passing Pursuit tackling depth and distance etc.. they did it the best ever

2K5 was before it’s time man and EA used their clout to crush the game..

If 2K has that nfl license EA would have been out of here a long time ago

2k and ea were offered the license and 2k passed. Biggest mistake ever.

2k5 was an incredible game.

Stop blaming ea. This is the nfl doing. Ea pays a crazy amount per extension to license nfl games. Ea and 2k were offered the same deal. Obviously ea had more bread so they could pay it. 2k5 wasn’t better than madden 05 tho

EA was talking mad shyt before 2k dropped that hammer on them.

Talk about they could give the game away for free with a sandwhich and 2k would never touch Madden.

Then the sales came in 2k5 with that 19.99 and still to this day the best NFL gameplay ever, cut the sales down from 10 to 1 in Madden's favor to 2 to 1 Maddens favor and they bought the NFL rights.

nah 2k5 looked way better than 2k3. 2k5 was the peak football game it to this day hasnt been surpassed. mainly because of madden's lack of competition. sad thing is wk basketball is going down the same path as madden did i dont think ea can make a game after 2k's new contract with the nba smh

that was 06. 05 introduced the hit stick. you could tell the key feature of the game by the cover athlete. 05 was ray lewis 06 was mcnabb

Great price, excellent game, everything about it was just beautiful. Which is why they had to mute it.

now don't get me wrong i love 2k5 the presentation and gameplay were great but i have a question to ask

it seems to me that the nfl 2k series suddenly blew up when 2k5 dropped for some reason and people dont even talk about the other games.

i mean 2k3 looks exactly like 2k5 and it didn't get nearly as much notoriety as 2k5 did and still gets


so what made 2k5 stand out from the rest of the nfl 2k series?

Same reason NBA2K is light years better then NBA Live

I'm watching a YouTube video that explains a bunch of features that were in NFL 2K5 that aren't in Madden (Skip to the 4:32 mark):

Madden NFL 19 is a horrible game. Older Maddens like Madden 05, 06, 07, and 08, along with games like NFL 2K5 and All Pro Football 2K8 have so much more depth than Madden 19. Not only that, but Madden 19’s gameplay is as unrealistic as it possibly could be, and the game is riddled with bugs. Other sports games like NBA 2K19 and MLB The Show 19 blow Madden out of the water. The NFL should be embarrassed to put their brand on easily the worst sports game out there. Madden has fallen to an all time low with their latest installment and things don't look to be improving anytime soon.
