Why didnt Tyrin Tuner blow up?

Bokeem Woodbine (who is also in the hip hop opera) is a better actor than Tyrin Turner and thats saying something. About Tyrin.

I think some of these actors are almost pigeon holed into black dramas or black romantic comedies. Even then, it would have to be some Tyler Perry high drama garbage.

I see no reason why Bokeem doesn't get more burn on some Spike Lee or Antoine Fuqua or Bruce Willis led films. Even the Hughes Brothers will have some of our really good black actors in some good roles.

I just finished reading an article on Grantland and decided to make this topic. After Menace to Society a lot of people thought he had next. But ironically it was Larenz Tate and Clifton Powell who made it the biggest out of the actors in that movie.

Actually Samuel L Jackson became the biggest star from that movie. Pulp Fiction came out a year after Menace.

That's good, I can imagine how many hood movies and black melodramas Bokeem has to turn down. One thing you can never do in Hollywood is go backwards.

Tyrin did a couple films and was subpar from what I understand, he can't even out class most of the black actors in The Wire, so its crazy that he felt he was short changed.

He probably would have kept working if he didn't 'hate' auditioning so much. He must think he is Chris Tucker or something.

Yeah, but I don't that was Tyrin's problem. He's not even a top 10 actor compared to actors in his generation like Idris Elba, Woodbine, Omar Epps, Wood Harris, Ejiofor, Larenz Tate, even Mos Def would outdo him in any scene.

He really thought it would have come easy, he better look at all the other actors that had to grind.

Was Tyrin talented? Probably not. But how many actors working in major pictures today really are? Talent has little to do with anything.
