Why do a lot of married men seem miserable and dead inside?

I straight up bump into a lot of older guys that tell me unprompted not to get married and enjoy being single.

They be looking like this in the face when their "better half" is around.

They got married too young and/or got married for the wrong reasons and maybe feel like they missed out on something or they’re BANs that have a convenient excuse for their misery instead of looking inward.

I don't doubt the existence of people who are not happy with the marriages, but people lie about how well they're doing all of the time.

What I'm calling bullshyt on is a old heads randomly telling you not to get married and how bad it is. It is on par with announcing to the world that you're struggling financially which people don't do because for the sake of pride.

Most I have heard from old heads is that marriage is hard work.

Hmmm.. I would imagine they bought into an idea that society sold them but didn’t truly fit for them.

It’s a huge sacrifice having to spend every day with another person and having to often put their interests before yours. If you aren’t truly compatible (shared interests, hobbies, values, similar temperaments, libidos) everyday is a constant push and pull between your own self-interests and the interests and well being of someone else. That can quickly become overwhelmingly exhausting.

Men want to marry a woman because of who she is, thinking she won't change drastically.

Women tend to marry a man that they like but want to change into their ideal person.

We stay the same, and often times they switch up. Women do an incredible job playing their part until they are locked in.

Now you stuck. Bewildered at how come she is so different. Where is the woman you married? Driving you fukkin NUTS lol.

The craziest part is I'm sure all these dudes saw some hints/red flags showing who she really was but ignored it.

I did talk to this old Italian guy who's been married for like 37 years. And he said basically his adult kids not living up to his expectation in life and him having to tuck his tail in and let his wife win 80 percent of the arguments in the household. That is what he said almost verbatim minus the tucking your tail in part. His son wants to be a Youtube gamer but dude is in his 30s.
