The problem with people they do not see anything wrong with their behavior and it's almost encouraged to not address and probe especially on online spaces. Too many black people seem to have the same story. And I know when I was in elementary and middle school, the darker you were, the fatter you were, the nappier you were, the ashier you were, the cornier you were, you got it bad. And it was consistent. We wouldn't let up.

A Nigerian girl that I was in elementary school got teased to no end. She was, as far as I could remember, not attractive. We thought she was ugly. She constantly got teased. Today, she is drop dead gorgeous. But to this day she will not post full pictures of herself on social media.

That shyt stays with you. And I'm not judging nobody for how they react to mental, physical, and verbal trauma that they had to endure as kids.

It's fight or flight. That is the natural human response. I am not going to judge you if you decide to flee.

We need to be more introspective as a people with the factors that are causing people to want to leave.

We're too small in numbers to have some among our ranks working against us. That's a house divided.

i disagree. they are exaggerating. there is nothing she listed that i can't lay claim to - probably lay even more claim to than her. i'm probably darker, beckier sounding, bigger lips, rougher environment (my parents are felons), smarter (i've always been in advanced classes with perfect gpa) etc.

i agree with this post in full. but the last part is real because it was def somethign i noticed from going to public school and givin each other bars all day long to a private school and trying to do the same thing and they made it seem as if i was bullying. i had a few introspective moments and had to think damn WHY IS IT LIKE THIS?

i would also liek to state, i been with a WW for the past 6 years. but its not because of any of those tropes posted. it was just who i ended up being compatible with. I wasnt searching or trying to find something or someone particular it just happened. i dated all types of women prior to that. it had nothing to do with any generalized view of any of their background. but simply how can i know find out what i want/need if i dont try everything. and every match black white w.e has hills to climb especially understanding each other.


and on another note. i actaully went back to one of my dark friends recentlyt and apologized to him for the black jokes that probably lasted 25 years. idk if it effected him how it effects some but i wasnt willing to let that ride when i know damn well we were wrong as hell for all the nicknames we came up to him and thats ontop of him being the darkest in his family and we found out he was pretty insecure about that.

we gotta be a little more introspective with what we say and what we do and how it effects everyone in the long term.

Can't condone the present day coooning but man, kids can be very cruel in how they single differences out. As one poster above stated, we gotta stop the self denigration of black features by black people, especially black children. You should not be able to turn someone against their community by simply being the first to compliment them on their features, that something someone in her family or extended community should have told her and reinforced that shyt.
