I wouldn't agree with this. I'm black, like Em and can relate to his music. Not wanting to date black women makes him racist? I know a few black men that are racist too then:pachaha:. For me, Its Eminem's white fans putting him on a pedestal that irritates me.
Nah it wasn't just "Not wanting to date black women"
He called being attracted to black women "N**** shyt".
And if you're willing to defend that, then I already know what sorta
"Black" person you are.
I mean even Eminem realized that shyt was not cool.

Well, the vast majority of people - black, white or whatever - love Eminem. He's ONE OF the greatest rappers of all time, according to pretty much every rap fan, critic or rapper.

The people who try to discredit Eminem are mainly just loser trolls on message boards. Let's take a look at their shytty arguments:

1) They like to call Eminem "corny", and cherrypick random songs like We Made You or Fack or whatever...ignoring the fact that you could do that with literally every other rapper. Nas made Nastradamus. Jay-Z made Anything, Hollywood, I Know What Girls Like. Rakim just put out a coaster. KRS-One has all kinds of shytty songs. Ice Cube has enough shytty cornball songs post-War and Peace to fill at riple album. Every other rapper put out cheesy singles and wack material and gets a pass, but with Eminem, it's all they can focus on, and it's stupid.

2) They say Eminem's "discography doesn't measure up." SSLP, MMLP and TES are critically acclaimed, best-selling, and make pretty much every list of the best albums of their era, rap-wise, and including all genres of music. MMLP is called a classic by pretty much everyone, and SSLP and TES get that word thrown their direction as well. You have to live in a pretty dark cave to not think SSLP, MMLP and TES were great. And let's look at Em's other albums - only one of them was "bad." (Encore.) Relapse and Recovery got some mixed reviews on the message boards, I guess, but they both were received pretty well in every conceivable way - critical acclaim was positive, and they sold. People liked them. They're okay to good albums..both Nas and Jay have their fair share of those. But they get a pass, because they're black. Rakim has put out as many meh albums as good ones, but he gets a pass. KRS-One, LL, Ice Cube, all have made as much wack shyt as classic shyt. But they get a pass.

3) They try to claim Eminem is a racist, for the Benzino thing, and this is really their whole motivation. They have some pretty massive racial hangups for whatever reason, and just cannot, CANNOT, forgive Eminem for saying some racist lines on a basement song when he was 20. These same people post unbelievable racist shyt in their posts on a daily basis. They also love throw around f-ggot and hate on gay people like they're auditioning for Westboro Baptist Church. They also ignore the fact that every human being says something racist at some point in their life. Eminem apologized like a million times for it, in written form, on camera, on record, and nothing is good enough for these people. 50 years from now, they'll be sitting in rocking chairs on the porch, grinding their teeth about what Eminem said. For the rest of their life, they'll never let what Eminem said go, but they'll turn a blind eye to every other person saying hateful shyt.

The trolls that shyt on Eminem on message boards might be loud, but they are not many, and their shytty arguments don't really matter. Nobody cares. Almost all of your favorite rappers love Eminem, and that is a fact. He singlehandedly made being a white solo MC acceptable.

(Note: I don't think Em is the GOAT, but he's in consideration.)

A lot of dumb generalistions being thrown around here on both sides...

...but then again, generalisations are what a lot of these debates on the net are based on :manny:

1. This is complete B.S.
Rappers do put out singles intended for a wide audience but most of them do
not target white teen angst like Eminem did.
He pretty much railed against what was the most popular with 13 year olds in the latter
half of the 90's which was Boy Bands and Pop Stars.
Name one rapper outside of Eminem whose done this, YOU CAN'T
And if you can, then name one that doesn't obviously bite Eminem's whole steeze.

2. Nas and Jay-Z don't get passes for releasing mediocre albums, they get talked about
just as hard as any other rappers on here. The difference though is people realize they're some
of the GOATS and their content extends beyond gags on homosexuality and extreme violence
this seems to be lost on Eminem's biggest stans though. They always try to bring it back to race instead
of content. The same goes for Ice Cube whose discography completely eclipses Eminem's in content.

3. This again bullshyt.
There are many people who criticize Eminem who aren't racists.
What I will say though is that race definitely plays a factor in how certain
people perceive Eminem on ALL SIDES.
And more often than not it's usually young white cats ready to defend someone
saying sideways shyt about black people in an artform created by black people.

Also he didn't make being a "White Solo MC" acceptable, he's just happens to be the most successful white solo Emcee.

Maybe they just don't like him?

nikkas on here act like the entire universe exists in their little box, where nobody black likes eminem, and nobody white has a valid opinion on hip hop....hell most of the white people I know don't even like eminem, then again I never hung out with yuppies or clowns who are in fact outside than in as far as the culture goes.

There has to be some middle ground...but as I said before, eminem for lack of a better description is overrated and underrated all at the same time. He's overrated due to hype and sales inflation and the fact that his whiteness, once he got past the barrier of being authentic made his marketability sky rocket...he's underrated because of the same, because there is a backlash against bandwagon fans trying to crown him the absolute GOAT that you almost have to knock him down a peg just to neutralize some of the bullshyt. Being such a polarizing figure..with polarizing "content" as well makes ranking him without some kind of bias damn near impossible.

At the end of the day though, regardless of how much you can or can't "relate" :rudy: to whatever, he is a noteworthy artist, mainstream noteriety has never really been just about talent, at least he HAS it, or "had" it depending on who you ask. Either way dude is and will always be one of my favorites, and for all the "i can't relate" shyt that nikkas talk as someone who came from poverty and drug culture, broken homes, absentee parents, violence (you know...hood shyt), I feel like my life's experience is much more similar to his than most of what a lot of these clowns that get propped up on here spit about.

I didn't know he said that and I really don't give a fukk. What you want me to do about some shyt a white guy said 20 years ago? YOU even said that Em already said it wasn't cool. So he apologized for it. Who cares. And if you read everything I said I mentioned that white people put him on a pedestal. So now you know what type of black person I am

Of course you didn't know :pachaha: that's why you came off
like a clown tryna act like what he said wasn't
a big deal.
And now you what exactly you were defending.
Clearly it was a big enough deal for him to apologize for it.
Obviously plenty of people cared, clearly Eminem himself did
enough to apologize for it.

Again I can already tell what sorta black person you are.
That's where I'll leave it at that.
Anyways think what you want.
Peace.

And like I said, I didnt know he said it was "****** shyt". It was a mistake he apologized for. If it were any bigger than that he wouldn't be working in hip-hop right now. So are Dr Dre, 50 cent, and everyone else Em is around that's black an Uncle Tom for not being more upset about this? Please educated black man tell me how I'm supposed to feel about this so I know that I'm really black :lupe:

I never said you were supposed to feel any sort of way but
your dismissive tone about his past racism tells me all I need to know.
By the way you're putting words in my mouth, I never questioned
your blackness but I get the feeling you have several moments where you do
in your day to day.

I don't question my blackness. I question people who tell other people "I can tell the type of black person you are" which only makes them stereotype their own race.

LOL @ "Why do Blacks Try to Discredit Eminem". Blacks don't need to discredit Em. He did that himself making some wack racist tapes. You can't expect a culture that comes from Black People to not hold that against Em. And even still then we as a culture forgive him cause he kinda repented for his sins. Well that's if you believe the whole "I had a black girl" fiasco. NaS basically picked Em up off the ground on "Be a N!gger Too" and saved his hood pass. I don't think NaS, Jay or anyone was happy about the tapes. But they saw Eminem had changed.

He may have been raised Racist but Hip Hop showed Eminem the true side of Black people. Hip Hop is what made Eminem realize he had it wrong. Some blacks still may never care for Em after the tapes and they have that right. Me personally, I believe a person can change and I believe Hip Hop changed Em's racist upbringing. But again a culture that comes from the black youth won't cosign a rapper that made any racist rap no matter when as the GOAT of the genre so Eminem will never win that poll amongst Hip Hop heads. But Em is Hip Hop Heads dirty little secret cause Hardcore fans did f*ck with early EM like 98-02 outside of the lame corny pop singles. It was after The Eminem Show/8 Mile era that Em lost it and he basically is still trying to get it back. But outside of the racist tapes as a Fan of Hip Hop I think it's hard to not like Em from a skill level.

He's a rapping dictionary. Has tons of crazy flows. He's not boring on the mic. Yes his catalog is roughly 1 great 2 solid and 3 so so albums but Em has released some bangers. I'm Black and I like Eminem but my like for Em can only go so far when I see White America overrating him and trying to make him Hip Hop's Elvis. Sh!t Eminem even embraced that he is Hip Hop's Elvis. Black people never said Elvis had no talent just like we won't say Eminem doesn't have talent. But There is a race factor involved when Blacks create something and Whites take it over. That's why for me as Black Man, I loved "White America" cause Em was talking to his race about their bias and racism while also talk to the Black Race about how we feel about him. That's why the "If I was Black, I would of Sold Half" was such a powerful line from him. But Em is the highest selling rapper of all time. Forgive me if Black People look at that stat and shake their heads. Cause we've lived this before. Elvis highest selling rock artist. Kenny G Highest Selling Jazz artist etc.

We've seen this throughout history. So Though Eminem is just a rapper he represents some of these same things that have happen in the past. But Blacks aren't the only ones "Hating" on Em. He has plenty of Whites hating him too. The Bottom line is Em is Dope, no doubt about it. He has dropped some amazing music in his career. But I can't put him In my Top 5 and It's debatable to me that's he's top 10 even though the media will force him in. If "MMLP" is Em's "BEST" work he's going to have a hard time competing with the GOAT's best work. Just so people know, here's where I personally stand on Em's solo albums. I will say that "MMLP" is his only Classic.

SSLP - 4.5 MICS
MMLP - 5 MICS
TES - 4 MICS
E - 2 MICS
Rel - 3 MICS
Rec - 3.5 MICS
