I didn't say they were. Doesn't mean tithes aren't a form of income. Most churches aren't operating as businesses trying to make profit.

They are still a business. .

Most pastors I've known are working class. My pops in law is 70 and worked full time outside of the church until his 50's and worked part time in a store he co-owned until about 3-4 years ago. When the church hit financial troubles (due to lack of tithes) he refused a paycheck for about a year and lived off their savings. Despite the narrative most pastors ain't living big. Plus the ones I know typically work way more than 40 hours a week at the church so it makes perfect sense that they receive a salary from the people they're serving. Beyond that tithes go to the upkeep and maintenance of the church itself whether its the building and a mortgage/rent, cleaning or repairs or other ministries the church is involved in.

My pastor is on vacation in London right now![]()

He actually tells us that he takes x percentage. No raises no bonuses etc. The church is kinda big and has a lot of members. Plus it wasn't always big so him getting more members and growing the church is his raise. I aint mad at that.on the church members dollar![]()

I mean anytime something negative is brought up about the bible the response is always well that's the Old Testament and we have new laws now. If that's the case shouldn't we do away with tithing?
