Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Horrible customer service is my #1 pet peeve. I’m fine with the trade off of less than stellar food if it means my blood pressure doesn’t have to rise in the pursuit of it. It’s something that I absolutely don’t compromise on and I have zero tolerance for bullshyt especially if I’m spending my own money.

I’m the same way. I don’t give them a pass For it either and think it’s bad black folks have bad customer service to eachother.

But check this out. Negril Village in West Village by NYU has amazing Jamaican food with superb customer service.

I wonder why

When you got to a Jamaican restaurant for take out, and they give you your food with gravy leakin through the paper bag. You know that shyt about to be bangin'
The worse the attitude, the better the food. They know they shyt good and they stank ass attitude ain't gonna keep nobody away.

Here in nyc there’s a Jamaican spot on every block so a lot of them aren’t good and they still have attitude.

Black people provide poor customer service in general because they know we put up with it.

White folks will go on yelp and type long paragraphs if the customer service is even slightly bad.

The rent in the West Village for a restaurant discourages anybody who is not a serious business owner.

The establishments in hood areas are often fronts for other activities. The extra activities cover operating costs including the( lower) rent.Their customer base is primarily people from their culture, who already know what the customer service is going to be. No incentive for the cashier/cook/owner to do anything different. That NYU student steps foot in the hood Jerk Spot, they'll be in for a rude awakening.

I remember I was driving and I ordered from the Jamaican spot near my place. Got to the spot about 25 minutes later thinking I’d just go in and out. Come to find out they didn’t even start preparing my order :mjlol:

Waited another 30 minutes, mad af vowing to never order from there again. But those first few bites of jerk chicken had me :noah: and forgetting what I was mad about.

That’s how they get you, every time :wow:

:scusthov:

I had to throw some damn hot sauce to try and make it edible.
Its like they just boiled rice and beans and plated it.

My barber don't even greet me when I step in. Doesn't even acknowledge my presence. A nod would suffice

Sometimes I feel like I upset him. I think it's because I don't speak patois

Went to Jamaican spot in the hood for something to eat two days ago

There was a sign outside displaying a special (jerk chicken, rice & plaintain for $5). I walk in and ask it. The lady (who didn't even greet me) tells me it's $6 and there's no plaintain :mjtf:

Let a white person walk in that restaurant though and they change up quick. All of a sudden they like chick fi la with the customer service. I've seen it too many times here and in the carribean.. jamaic00ns only do this to other black folks.

In reality this can be said about Caribbean, Africans, AND American Blacks.

I agree with OP that many JA spots have horrible customer service by America’s standards, but definitely not all of them. And personally I’ve had good experiences, more times than not.

But in the case of the bad experiences in Black establishments, I’ve witnessed the white customers get the red carpet while they act like crap to the Black customers. I’ve experienced this from AA cashiers from Walmart to Walgreens, from the African hood store cashiers to the JA restaurants.
