And why are people acting like family is sunshine and roses?

Most families are fukked up in all sorts of ways. Families doesn't equate to happiness any more than a job does.

You ever see where they show twins where one twin is single, and the other twin has a family?

The one with the family ALWAYS looks like shyt.

I'm single, have a career, I don't have to worry about money, come and go as I please, have taken 2 vacations in the last few months and my body looks great.

My sister has 2 kids and a husband. She's had 2 strokes since she has been married. She never had a health issue before that. Their money is tight even though they are both employed and she doesn't look too great. She's miserable.

You couldn't pay be to be her. Ain't a person on this planet that can convince me that is what I'm "supposed to be doing."

hot take; if they didn't make a wikipedia about you, you don't have a legacy :yeshrug:

Condoleeza Rice has far more of a legacy than someone who went to work some ordinary job for 40 years, and had a couple ordinary kids. there's 8 billion people on this planet, dying every second, being born every second

of course your kids are the most important thing, to you. but in the grand scheme of things, the average person is incredibly unimportant, and changed/influenced nothing. i doubt Condoleeza would change places with the average woman with a couple mediocre kids and an HR job that she doesn't like going to :dead:
Exactly.

A lot of people spend more time at work than at home. And then some people ain’t shyt at home. Meanwhile you work your way up in a company and get comfortable and you actually have status over people and think you can run it like it’s your home.
This dude was a compliance manager in the group and took is job as the “cop” of the company too serious. But he loved having that power. A few years ago he got fired because in a meeting with other higher ups on a zoom call told a female manager to sit on his face. I know he can’t go home and tell his wife to sit on his face so I don’t know why he thought coming on a call with other big wigs and doing that was going to fly. But dude was just too comfortable.
Some people just have a lot more going on at work than home. Family be damned. :yeshrug:
He had to be high

Just because you don't have a family doesn't mean your life is consumed by work.

I have the same schedule as people with families. Actually I have a better one. I do operations management so am able to craft my own schedule. I made it so most of time I work from home. I did the same for my staff and they love it.

We don't even have jobs that are traditionally work from home but I made it happen.

Many men can’t stand their wives, your kids become independent after awhile and can be a pain in the ass in their rebellious stages, and ultimately a lot of men rather grind and provide and find working overtime less stressful than being at home with their nagging wife and dealing with marital issues…

As for extended family some of us have no good, thieving ass cousins and shyt :snoop:

No its not
The person that became VP really wanted that and when they die they will feel like they accomplished something with their life.

Just because people say things like their kids are their proudest accomplishment it doesn’t mean they aren’t proud of their other achievements.

It doesn’t have to be career or kids and family. You can have both and be proud of both.

Someone said it already when you don’t have nothing else to be proud of you start talking about how family is all that matters. Just to make yourself feel good about your life.

Most of the time the person chasing the work dream came from a big family or has a family member with enough kids for the both of them.

Some people just aren’t parent material
A lot of these psychos out here don’t deserve a relationship either
I disagree.
I 100% guarantee that when a president or CEO is on their deathbed, their final thoughts are not about the work they completed and what else they could have done. They are not surrounded around their co-workers/employees. They think about their loved ones and want to be surrounded by them.

And if God gave them one more day of life, not one would choose to spend it in their office.

I think you are missing what I’m saying. You are talking like these people regret not spending more time with their family and if they had to start over they would not go after those positions

I’m saying that when you chase those positions it’s everything to you and if you marry tge right person they also want you to chase your dreams. So when they die they are proud of what they accomplished but they may value their family more for helping them get there or just always loving them.

I’m saying the two aren’t mutually exclusive

Now if you never have a family and you choose career then you probably have a lot of friends and you want them around you. I saw it first hand with my brother.
