:gucci:So we just gon act like Haitians the nicest people in the world. Awww man do ya'll know what it's like to go to a haitian church, haitian bible study, haitian youth programs and not speak creole and have the older haitians yell "you don't speak creole! Jesuuuuuuu"

With a look of disgust on their face :mjcry:

haitian revolution took place over 200 yrs ago. These haitian I grew up with any nothing revolutionary about them. Hahaha

:laff:

Breh, this happened to me a lot when the fam used to go to Haitian churches. I can only understand but can't speak creole but I still got roasted. That "Oh! Ohhhhhh!"

Don't know if there's much Haitians there or even any minorities. I imagined most came to south Florida but I'm sure going up there was an adjustment for you. Especially that cold weather. :damn:

:gucci:This is something I've noticed that is prevalent not just among Americans but amongst other Caribbean people and Europeans

:gucci:It can't just be about the Revolution because Haitians face discrimination from other majority black /Caribbean nations like Bahamas , DR, Cuba etc.

Do brehs whAts the reason:gucci:

Is it because of the voodoo stereotype (I know a lot of Jamaicans that dislike Haitians because if this)

Ive never had a good experience with a haitian. every last one i ever came across in my personal life...they were all sneaky, slimy, grimy mothafukkas.

jamaicans >>>>

alot easier to do business with

I live in Montreal, Canada where almost half of all blacks are Haitian. There are no issues between them and other Caribbean groups around here other than a few old heads clinging to outdated stereotypes. I'm Bajan and have quite a few Haitian friends. :yeshrug:

I'm of Jamaican parentage and I've had to correct a lot of ignorant Jamaicans for their complete ignorance. Case in point the "natural" disasters that have hit Haiti - on FB in particular there's always some dumb ass talking about how god is "punishing" Haiti for voodoo :snoop: and has "saved" Jamaica....as if Jamaica doesn't suffer other afflictions that could easily be pointed out and last I checked for an island that has more churches per square mile than anywhere else on earth, white jeebus doesn't really seem to give a fukk about Jamaica either. Yet these same folks were the first to pray for France. :comeon: The utter stupidity is just staggering.

I'm in england so I haven't really encountered many Haitians like that although every other island is here.

I wish some of them fine ass Haitian women I've encountered in the states were here though. :noah:

I don't understand how folks understand Kreyol and can't speak. Like so u mean to tell me if someone turned the radio on or you were watching some program or w/e you would understand 100% of what they're saying but can't respond?? :dwillhuh: I speak Kreyol fluently. I speak English better since that's my primary language.

Never heard of Jamaicans hating on us. I only really experienced that Haitian hate growing up in middle/high school from AA's but it seems to have died down with the rise of Haitians stunting and getting it in so to speak with the shyt talkers. Nowadays dudes be wanting to be Haitian. It's pretty much ignorance and shyt.

:gucci: I thought you'd understand since you taught yourself Japanese, breh. Reason this happened was because my mother never forced us speak to her in Kreyol. Me and my siblings spent like 2 years in Haiti as gits and even when we were there we attended an English speaking school. Listening and speaking (as well as writing and reading) are related but separate skills. I've tried speaking a few times but Haitian fam and friends laugh. I've been told my accent is hilariously bad.

Funny, I've got enough of an accent to be identified as Haitian when I'm speaking English (Sometimes I'm even accused of being Jamaican) but I can't fukking speak kreyol properly.

Same thing happened to me for Spanish except it's more basic.
