Why Do People Hate Haiti/Haitians ?

I presume AAs have contempt for them because they are the poorest blacks in the hemisphere

I don't know where you guys live but I have never heard of African Americans having contempt for Haitians.......my eighth grade Spanish teacher was Haitian and he was one of the most dignified people I know lol!

Because of ignorance. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and so many people look down on us here in the USA. I live in a town(technically village) that has a large Haitian population and SO MANY c00n shyt said about Haitians especially when I was in HS.

Most my closest homies are Haitians and they showed an African in a foreign land love. Made me family.

Funny as JA has a long standing Obeah tradition that has been practiced alongside the myriad of Christian denominations since the Spaniards stole the island, called it Santiago and slaughtered the indigenous population.

Don't forget that Haiti is the first black nation outside of Africa so don't think for a second that propaganda and Christianity hasn't played a significant role in the ideas that some JA residents hold in regards to Haitians or other "small" islands either.

Like someone else said one main reason is Haitians are the most woke and most proud to be Black and not afraid to show it. I'm sure its not 100% percent perfect just like other nationalities and there are exceptions, but Haitians stick together alot more and its not even close. Other caribbeans like Jamaicans are the polar opposite, and have more in-fighting and are not as "woke".

Ironically whether other Caribbeans or AAs, i feel people started to view Haitians(wrongly i might add) for being too "bougie" or "stuck up" simply because they stuck together alot and spread lies about them and made fun of them and started this nonsense about them smelling or being dusty and ugly. Many times its just straight up jealousy.

AA groups have toned it down over the past years and aren't as bad like in the past, but other Caribbean groups still view Haitians in a certain light.

I am half Jamaican and there are plenty of Jamaicans that look down on Haitians . Even Cubans and Bahamians too. they are worse than Jamaicans I will say

Jamaicans just think they are the best Caribbean islanders period, but they don't "hate Haitians". This is total bs. They don't even think about them, let alone have a complex about them.
