You are conflating role on the court/team with role in real life. You are also conflating seeking attention with an exaggerated sense of one's own importance. If you feel you are important, you aren't gonna go out of your way to get attention from others. That said, in real life Rodman was a big deal. He was a huge star. He never tried to act like he was that on the court though. He never accused a GOAT and OG of the position of being jealous of him or compared himself to the GOAT period.
