bro how many times have we seen the media call protesters unruly and violent then we see vids if them being peaceful? how many times these cops said they were threatened and were attacked then a vid gets leaked on twitter and we found out it was a lie

This would have merit if there hadn't been protests and demonstrations since the 30s in this regard.... The word in the black community was always the truth, as opposed to what was printed in the paper.... and the fact of the matter is, the majority in this company will believe what's stated via media platforms, as opposed to any footage that's thrown online...... unless it is without question absolutely contrary to what's being reported....

If you ask the average white person if the protest in Ferguson were violent in nature, they would emphatically respond yes.....

lol at this. let me explain this to you yougins. the stuck in the 90s nikkas are actually better at tech then you are. The reason being is. we bridget the gap between ZERO tech and ALL tech.

Which is why we also know when to turn it off and when to turn it on. the super old heads want it off all the time. the super youngins want it on 100% of the time.

in addition. we again know how to use it better. Because were not originally taught on it. We know the long way to learn things, research etc. So we can see the ease of use of technology. where the youngins can't. they will come on THE COLI asking a question they could've had answered by going to google.

Because we're old enough to have had to go to a library for info back in our kiddy days and learn that stupid Dewey Decimal system. we know how to research. The manner in which we were taught to do research papers from middle school thru high school to college. put us on a different level when it comes to locating and breaking down information.

You guys can code and make a small video game. you can make a little app. but if i ask you to locate some serious info. you cant find it without asking someone else who probably went to google. lol. i know this is all facts because i've seen yall ask these questions right here on THECOLI. dont deny it.

yall have no idea how much power you have with the tech you have. you only use it to watch videos, Text/chat online/tweet, FB/insta//online.

There is no real productive use for twitter, FB, instagram, etc unless you are an emergency service that needs to quickly get the word out about something, or if you're trying to advertise a product(even yourself as an entertainer or instathot. The old head Bill gates gave you something you could use to be productive. not one of you youngins have come up with something that substantial.

periscope.. lol. more of the same.

Show me how any of these extra social media things can be used to be MORE productive? they're cool for clowning around and thats about it. it would've been fun when i was in high school or college for sh... and giggles. but aside from that. they aint helping you unless you're moving products like crazy, or an entertainer of some sort.

this whole post is :banderas:

these young kids grew up with the internet in place and still beg for links in 2015 :mjlol:

you can network wit people from anywhere in the world that you would have NEVER had the chance to communicate with if it weren't for social media. if you live in east bumfukk and the top dude in whatever field your interested in is in Germany, you can hit him up and pick up gems directly from the source and get your shyt together. that wasn't the case before, you just had to hope one day you lucked up and met this muhfukka randomly :mjlol:
YOU MADE MY POINT. who cares if you could network with anyone in the world via social media? if most people are not using it for that purpose. thats my point. and again. social media isnt making that easier. i could always call someone overseas, text them. send them an email. Chat online even before FB/Twitter/insta, etc.

You basically are forced to be into your technology and Facebook and the web. It's about basically fitting in and they shame you if you aren't into that shyt. People are a lot more judgmental and ready to shyt on you if you aren't following a certain lead.
This is so true.

I even see it on here. I made a thread talking about facebook and how I deleted my account. People complain about facebook all the time yet still use it. It's not like anybody is holding a gun to their head and forcing them to stay on that website, they can always deactivate it or delete their account anytime, but they always use the same rationales. "I would, but I use it to keep it touch with family members" "I use it for work"...etc. They act like they NEED to be on facebook. When that couldn't be any further from the truth. You don't need to be on ANY website...period.

There are even "I hate facebook" groups....on FACEBOOK.

If that doesn't speak volumes without saying a word, you must be DEAF!

Ain't nothin but flattoppedness all in this post
No there isn't.

Too much internet consumption is NOT healthy. That was the main point of @rapbeats post. Like most of the younger generations because of either being attached to a computer screen or a TV screen are just...weird. And awkward.

You have kids now that spend damn near all their time inside on whatever site and not even bothering to interact with people. And then y'all wonder what went wrong when you got columbine killer clones shooting up they high schools cause they on 4**** sharing hentai with their neo-nazi buddies.

Strong post, I totally agree.

Sure, the fact that Social Media is prolly the single more important invention of the past 20 or so years and those were made by millennials for the most part. The concept of the "something-slash-something-slash-something" is indicative of this generation. Based off the fact we can't just have one fukking job because of this shyt economy. Gender and Sexual orientation equality is something our generation continues to fight for. Marriage equality was won by the lobbying of this generation through social media. Don't try to explain that away. Meanwhile the Baby Boomers biggest contributions to the world were deregulation, Reganomics, and well the internet. :manny:
But actually we CAN be a very lazy generation but in a way i think that is a mischaracterization as well. You are are talking about an entire generation of people that were hustled into getting useless degrees, and getting thousands of dollars in debt for skills that are not cross marketable. That isn't this generations fault that falls to our parents for creating and then perpetuating that culture. You know how hard it is to break the cycle of a generation that was told they could be anything and they are "unique snowflakes", only to grow up and find out that the job or career they dreamed of is behind a 150k student debt pay wall? Or they even get the degree and the job pool dried up to a point where they have to be freaking baristas and valets just to pay rent?

Ideologically. We can sometimes be lazy. But I think that's usually something boomers regurgitate in order to bury the fact that more so than anyone they fukked up the everyday life of western society.

Blame the boomers for damn near kilking our humanity to get a degree, just to find out that you need to be genius level STEM to be the standard? :martin:

I think the big issue with my generation is that a lot of people in my group including myself don't accept or want to face reality and life. We are all into the internet which allows us to create whatever fantasy we wish we had and not face life for what it is. We don't have patience either. A lot of folks want something now instead of working towards it and seeing progress. They don't want to go through the process where they learn and experience shyt for themselves. They want it to appear in front of them.

However, it's not really our fault. We were basically raised to be that way. I know for a fact that when the new technology was coming out 20 years ago, my teachers expected us to have a computer with Internet. My family wasn't making money lIke that. It got to the point where my teacher was giving me low marks for not having my paper computerized. This was back in the 5th grade. You basically are forced to be into your technology and Facebook and the web. It's about basically fitting in and they shame you if you aren't into that shyt. People are a lot more judgmental and ready to shyt on you if you aren't following a certain lead. If you're not a social butterfly like me then its a lot easier to get into that shyt and etc compared to reach out to people. I'm NOT all that social and choose to open up to a few and etc. So yeah.... it's tough out here.

The job market is even worse especially considering how the cost of living is ridiculous. It's like you can't save money for shyt. People are broke. You gotta have roommates or live at home. It's bad out here.
that bolded is truth. This generation is all about Trends and following them. of course someone sets them. but even the way they're set is a REACH moment. everyone is trying to go viral, everyone is trying to be a star now. this is what happens when you put the camera in everyones face. the cameras only use to be in hollywood and new york. now they are everywhere due to youtube. it means we are all stars to someone. thats a problem. you had people from the middle of nowhere always feening for that hollywood life. but they could never get it. now they can get a taste of it now. if they can just get their video to go viral. they will do anything to make it happen. this is where the "WORLD STAR!!!!" foolishness comes from. running to a bad scene to video something vs helping the person or breaking up the foolishness or just leaving. because everyone wants to be that person that made that thing blow up.

then everyone else gets in line and follows the trend. the following trend thing is so bad now that yall dont have your own identity.

i'll give you an example. my niece is a young millennial. she's in this group of dudes and girls. anyway they were told to give each other christmas gifts. you know a gift exchange.

i'm driving her grandmother around talking about it. and her grandmother tells me and my wife "guess what they all got each other? Starbucks gift cards."

we were like lol, most of them.haa haa.

She was like" NO, ALL OF THEM BOUGHT EACH OTHER THE EXACT SAME GIFT CARD."

now wait a second. how GROUP Think can you get when you go out on your own and end up doing the exact same thing as 20 other kids? Thats a problem youngins. a serious problem. Thats killing your creativity. what makes YOU, YOU.

the TREND does not make you YOU.

There was something else they did where they all ended up doing the exact same thing, the exact same way. like little robots.
