30 is still good imo. You were around for the technology shift. We won't be that out of touch. If you were a kid or a teenager around 2003 shyt will be alright for you. Because you grew up with technology.

The only lost ones are those stuck in the 90s nikkas who don't know how to do anything.
lol at this. let me explain this to you yougins. the stuck in the 90s nikkas are actually better at tech then you are. The reason being is. we bridget the gap between ZERO tech and ALL tech.

Which is why we also know when to turn it off and when to turn it on. the super old heads want it off all the time. the super youngins want it on 100% of the time.

in addition. we again know how to use it better. Because were not originally taught on it. We know the long way to learn things, research etc. So we can see the ease of use of technology. where the youngins can't. they will come on THE COLI asking a question they could've had answered by going to google.

Because we're old enough to have had to go to a library for info back in our kiddy days and learn that stupid Dewey Decimal system. we know how to research. The manner in which we were taught to do research papers from middle school thru high school to college. put us on a different level when it comes to locating and breaking down information.

You guys can code and make a small video game. you can make a little app. but if i ask you to locate some serious info. you cant find it without asking someone else who probably went to google. lol. i know this is all facts because i've seen yall ask these questions right here on THECOLI. dont deny it.

yall have no idea how much power you have with the tech you have. you only use it to watch videos, Text/chat online/tweet, FB/insta//online.

There is no real productive use for twitter, FB, instagram, etc unless you are an emergency service that needs to quickly get the word out about something, or if you're trying to advertise a product(even yourself as an entertainer or instathot. The old head Bill gates gave you something you could use to be productive. not one of you youngins have come up with something that substantial.

periscope.. lol. more of the same.

Show me how any of these extra social media things can be used to be MORE productive? they're cool for clowning around and thats about it. it would've been fun when i was in high school or college for sh... and giggles. but aside from that. they aint helping you unless you're moving products like crazy, or an entertainer of some sort.

i feel like that range is too wide fam. though maybe thats the technical range...i feel like the more accurate representation is 1985-1995
I think so too honestly, I really don't feel too much of a connection to the crowd of heads born past 1989 except in a few categories. Like I grew up in the 90s, was a teen in the 90s. But really I was too old to be a gen y member and too young to be a gen xer.

Cause they are huge pussies. Always complaining, crying or bytching about something.

Just look at what's going on in colleges. Safe spaces, trigger words, micro aggression and other nonsense to protect their feelings cause their parents cuddled them all their lives.
fat acceptance
stop slut shaming

It's like they want everyone to like them and can't accept that's never going to happen so they create this dumb stuff.
act like you know what you're talking about brehs but be 100% wrong. :mjlol:
More like 1968 something to 1980. That's gen x

:snoop:

if you were born between 1980 and 1985 you are LITERALLY an 80s baby

between1985 and 1995 you are GENERATION X (mtv generation)

millenials are people born after that and in 2000s, they are mostly teens and college students now

Gen Xers were people who were born in the 60s and 70s and were young in the 90s. Like late teens, early 20s. That's definitely not us.

And without millenials there would be no napster which would mean no mp3s and no sites like itunes.

you can network wit people from anywhere in the world that you would have NEVER had the chance to communicate with if it weren't for social media. if you live in east bumfukk and the top dude in whatever field your interested in is in Germany, you can hit him up and pick up gems directly from the source and get your shyt together. that wasn't the case before, you just had to hope one day you lucked up and met this muhfukka randomly :mjlol:

Baby boomers might be the woat generation

:salute: seriously doe dap+rep

Every generation is fukkin whack..

Millennials= pseudo intellects with piss poor work ethic and narcissism

Gen X= degenerates that go against the grain just to do it + awful parents

Baby Boomers= destroyed the world with their greed and over indulgence

The great generation = simple and close minded - think in black and white

Etc...

*insert obligatory Aristotle quote about how the younger generation sucks*

Strong post, I totally agree.

This generation has done nothing relevant. The advent of technology has definitely been a gift, but a curse as well. This IMO especially concerns social issues. I'm a millennial so I can't compare the past from experience, but this generation seems so steeped in consumerism, vapidity, and narcissism. No one has respect for anyone or anything. Everyone seems so connected but has no connections to any real life. Kids don't go outside, people are fat, the media controls everyone, and people know this but don't care. As westerners it seems as though everyone has "made it" and society has become a cesspool of laziness peppered with shallow, useless people. I look around at people and everyone has on headphones, on their phone, tablets, etc. People don't even talk to each other anymore. Some of the issues we as society suffer from are not new. In the past though, people did something. Now everyone is a complacent drone. How will we be remembered? What will they say about us? I'm guilty of this stuff too. :yeshrug:

This generation sucks.

Sure, the fact that Social Media is prolly the single more important invention of the past 20 or so years and those were made by millennials for the most part. The concept of the "something-slash-something-slash-something" is indicative of this generation. Based off the fact we can't just have one fukking job because of this shyt economy. Gender and Sexual orientation equality is something our generation continues to fight for. Marriage equality was won by the lobbying of this generation through social media. Don't try to explain that away. Meanwhile the Baby Boomers biggest contributions to the world were deregulation, Reganomics, and well the internet. :manny:
But actually we CAN be a very lazy generation but in a way i think that is a mischaracterization as well. You are are talking about an entire generation of people that were hustled into getting useless degrees, and getting thousands of dollars in debt for skills that are not cross marketable. That isn't this generations fault that falls to our parents for creating and then perpetuating that culture. You know how hard it is to break the cycle of a generation that was told they could be anything and they are "unique snowflakes", only to grow up and find out that the job or career they dreamed of is behind a 150k student debt pay wall? Or they even get the degree and the job pool dried up to a point where they have to be freaking baristas and valets just to pay rent?

Ideologically. We can sometimes be lazy. But I think that's usually something boomers regurgitate in order to bury the fact that more so than anyone they fukked up the everyday life of western society.

Uncovered bonafide proof of systematic racism and brought it to public consciousness. Also the whole NSA spying thing. The technology is one thing but information wise we're miles ahead and much harder to program through the media than previous gens.

If you can show me a tangible benefit to social media that improves society, then you may have a point... even then, Tom Anderson(whom is a gen x'er), Omar Warsow:myman:(who is a gen x'er) could be considered the first to usher in "social media" and Sean Parker is a Gen'xer as well since you wanna claim napster as some type of achievement that enlightened and changed the course of society

What has been the tangible benefit of social media that has made America a better society? :sas1:

Spread of information and ideology is faster than ever. The ability to organize has been faster and more potent than ever. On the day to day no its doesn't seem that useful. But its actually groundbreaking in terms of social justice and community politics/policing.
