also..

stay away from negative people.. misery loves company..

Yup. I point out people all the time that come around me with negative energy. I tell them straight up “Stay away from me with that negative energy”. I’m half kidding but I be serious.

I dodge the consistently negative people like the plague.

True

I think social media definitely can have an impact on people's depression but I don't think it can cause it.

I got rid of all of my social media. I'm a private person and it made me paranoid LOL

Social media and the overconsumption of "reality" tv is playing a huge part. You have men and women who live paycheck to paycheck becoming enamoured with 'Love & Hip Hop' & 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians.' People who have to worry about budgeting in order to ensure food is on the table for them and their seed are consuming these shows where the chief issue is some multimillionaire throwing a fit because they got a matte black Ferrari instead of a red Lamborghini.

They log on social media and see classmates "supposedly" happily married and vacationing with a Prosche and three kids in tow. They see them closing successfully on homes while they're still trying to find their footing. To cope, they live vicariously through these people, failing to realize that a lot of these same folks are unhappy and are simply better equipped to fake the funk.

Depression has always been an issue with human beings by nature of the complexity of the mind and the trials and tribulations of coping with life in general, but the constant influx of media has led to many people feeling inadequate and attempting to one up one another. Everyone wants to be a celebrity and a crowd pleaser. No one is really comfortable anymore just seeking their own satisfaction and being Joe or Jane. Most importantly, they are completely oblivious to the reality that a lot of the media they consume is idealized smoke and mirrors.

People thinking about money and how they don't have enough.

People thinking about sex too much in an over-sexualized society.

People not finding their passion in life.

Brehs jacking off and watching porn all the time.

Find your purpose, stop being consumed with money and sex and your state of mind will rise to a level where happiness flows all through you.

Social clout, in debt, living pay check to pay check, and blaming others for their problems
the social clout leading to debt. I know people living out of their means just to post on social media and people think they are well off. Just do you, live within your means and a lot of unnecessary stress will be gone
