Do you guys just actively ignore shyt and pretend it doesnt exist

hurr durr pressure to be a "real street nikka with basketball skills and not an academic success""hurr durr I never noticed!

fukk outta here. I know you noticed. I'm sure he's giving you the benefit of the doubt to be intelligent enough to at least assume that you noticed. Don't dumb yourself down
This is truly idiotic. Who even talks like that? What does being a real street nikka have to do with basketball? What are you talking about?

If black kids aren't in the Chess Club or NASBE or something, they must only care about being in the street and playing basketball. If he wears Jordan's, he must not be able to be innovative. No room for both. Must be either/or.

Basically, you want to raise these kids to be the opposite of the people you hate in real life because they garnered the respect from the black community that you could never get for one reason or another. I know plenty of educated, successful black folks who are good in every situation they're in, while some of you in here probably got chased and beat up for thinking you were better than every other black person you came across.

These are the people who say they have our kids best interest at heart lol.

The masses of White folks dont give a damn about innovation or genius either.

So? Why should we use other races as a standard? Why is it seen as "negative" to want to push our people to a higher level? They might not "give a damn" but they own everything and we rent from everyone else for the most part. We must be doing something wrong and its important to be honest about our situation as a people to rise up.

Even if that was true, what do any of those attributes have to do with intelligence?

The post that u initially quoted and labeled an "absolute lie" touched on what i just said. Having to appear to be something that you're really not. Extra masculine and tough. And like i said, this happens quite often. No "ifs" about it. There's this pressure as black men that we face to carry ourselves in a certain way. Especially the youth. Not sure why you're denying this. Ive had kids straight up confide in me that they've "dumbed" themselves down in how they carry themselves in order to fit in with others. Not sure why this is so hard for you to believe when peer pressure plays such a big role at that age

Yes, I'm dense because I know black kids are doing much more than holding a basketball in one hand and a glock in the other :mjlol:.
You flat out deny the idea that black kids are encouraged to be one way while discouraged to be another in a lot of the areas of our community, as if this somehow came out of left field or something.

I'M NOT SAYING there doesn't exist intellectuals, or academically successful kids with social skills, or intelligent athletes, or none of that. I'm simply stating a fact that you are denying for whatever reason. That kids in our society like to pressure each other into being cool and entertaining rather than book smart/academically successful. It's there. Now you gonna call me a c00n or some shyt? lol

This is actually a BIG problem amongst us. I know for a fact that smart young kids hide and suppress their intelligence to appear more "hood" and"street". This happens often. A shift in our culture is needed. Ive said it time after time, but intelligence and education must become the new "cool". This is one of those topics that nobody wants to acknowledge.

Even some of the female posters in here said that they rather date a broke dolude with swag and mouthpiece than an educated dude that is "boring"

That says a lot. It's one extreme or another. No middle ground.

Its nice to see this generation of black youths embrace education and being smart. I grew up in the 90s where sadly being smart and educated and wanting to do well in school as a black persom saw you as "wanting to be white".

I remember those times. I got good grades, but I had to tell teachers never to reveal them or else I could be :rip: or have no real social status. Those days, everyone wanted to be on superthug mode.

Thank God now it's different.

Because you make it seem like that's a cultural issue when that is a personal/social/self esteem issue.

In this day and age there are clubs and places for all interests. Instead of spreading the rhetoric that said child is better/smarter because he feels more intelligent than his peers because all they want to do is rap, play basketball and shoot people :comeon:, how about you guide him to kids with similar interests? Don't act like because a kid can't play basketball that all the basketball players are stupid and inferior.

It's not just our society. Kids everywhere are pressured to be cool. It's called being a kid. I see Indian, Asian, white and other kids doing dumb sh*t everyday. All those vine compilations are filled with kids of all races being stupid and cool. But only with blacks is it a cultural issue.

It is part culture. You can deny this also but you're being dishonest. Swag, materialism, criminal/destructive behavior and extra masculinity is whats promoted HEAVILY.

For all of you shyting on the OP, can you please explain why Rick Ross, who, once exposed as having a job before rap,

had to INSIST that it wasn't him and that he was actually a real drug dealer?! Or why does Plies talk like he does in public?
As if this is something new.

Wasn't 50 clowning Nas a decade ago for spending his free time reading books while they were together on tour instead of partying and and "getting bytches"? Weren't people on Hip Hop forums mocking Nas when his brother said in some documentary that he used to make his own comic books when he was a kid? Weren't the majority of attacks throughout Nas' career basically that he wasn't "street" enough?

Which is better, being a creative genius or selling drugs and killing people? For every Nas in the world there are 10 thousand Jungles.
