The op talks about blacks not voting. I pointed out that black voters turned out in record numbers and wanted to see how we benefited...there was no qualifier about local vs national elections....
vote for what ? lol
Let's talk for a second about Flint Michigan. Right now everyone is up in arms and pissed about the lead in the water. The reason that happened is the Governor and state politicians made a decision to lower the expense of providing water to that area. Had the people of Flint been a heavy, important voting base that was involved in the process and knew this was coming they could have pushed to stop the disaster before it happened.why not? if I vote , whats going to change?
nikkas still gonna be poor, nikkas still gonna be disfranchised , nikkas still gonna spend their money with non-blacks, nikkas still arent going to start businesse's
what incentive do I have?
That's the point of local and state government, making choices that can affect you every day. Knowing what they are doing and exercising your power to stop something or make something happen is the point. Throwing your hands in the air like you have no power while burying your head in the sand then bytching about bad shyt that's going on doesn't solve anything.
Voting helps but voting alone is a small part. If you vote for someone because they promised something contact them to make sure they keep that promise. If it's the president and he's pushing for it but getting blocked by Congress, contact your senators and represrepresentatives and let them know they you want to get these things done. Get numbers on your side to let them know their job is on the line. The most important thing is to be clear about what you want done, if you have a problem but no solution how do you expect anyone to make something happen.
