Even though ESPN is dying, it is still at top when it comes to Sports channel. + Disney paid them a bunch of money to showcase the games. So NBA doesn't care how the ratings go there, they made their profit.

Outside of having access to the game, why do y'all care which network broadcasts a game?

Y'all really more or less likely to watch a game if it's being aired on CBS vs NBC?:dahell:

Just enjoy the fukking game

I put this in this thread about the ratings.https://www.thecoli.com/threads/nba...than-game-1-mjlol.808782/page-3#post-39348803

ESPN/ABC is incredibly lazy. They've gotten more lazy since this TV Deal was signed.

Its not June 2020. If this was a normal season, this would be terrible.

Anyway, I will say this and its that Disney (ESPN/ABC) in normal times is incredibly lazy with how they present the NBA. They don't promote the games enough. They don't do it on network television i.e. on ABC nearly enough.

They don't have full slate of games on ABC during the regular season and playoffs which is why the ratings are where they are. Sure, they'll have a Saturday night matchup and a Sunday afternoon game but that's... it. Rachel Nichols' monolgues on The Jump are supposed to be something you drive into games. There's zero story telling about the teams at all before games.

If you're paying $1.4 billion over 9 years for the NBA (TNT is paying the other $1.2 billion), I'd think you'd put way more effort in presenting the league. I mean, gotdamn, they have a halftime show that's literally a minute and half and then 14 minutes of commercials.

The NBA would have been much more better off having Turner Sports be the lead TV partner with CBS doing the games on network TV along with the NBA Finals (as they are doing with NCAA March Madness through 2032).
