She's right in good company.

Actresses who have never won an Oscar (any type whether lead or supporting):
Glenn Close
Judy Garland
Sigourney Weaver
Carrie Fisher (RIP)
Angela Bassett
Annette Benning
Michelle Pfeiffer
Angela Lansbury (RIP)
Emily Blunt
Naomi Watts
Keira Knightley
Scarlett Johansson
Catherine O'Hara

Again, some of these names have more than one "Oscar-type roles" as well.

List of actors who have never won one is probably even more outstanding.

Some of them been acting as long as I can remember and some of them will never win an award because they only give one a year. Some new actresses will be the same case 40 years from now. That's a shyt load of movies and only about 80 awards.

500,000 movies have been released and only 200 awards have been given out for best actress and supporting actress. A lot of greats will never win one.

Think about Glenn Close: her first nomination was 40 years ago in 1983 and her last nomination was 2 years ago in 2021.
That's a long time to be grinding all for some clown committee to "approve" winning some statue, so fukk em.

Yeah I can't believe her, Annette Benning, Sigourney Weaver and Carrie Fisher (RIP) don't have one.

Especially seeing how Sigourney Weaver and Carrie Fisher are two of the reasons why female roles look the way they do today and have made the industry some serious money.

That said, if they're still alive and the fact they still getting big modern roles >>>>>>>> an Oscar Award imo.

There are some Oscar-winning actors and actresses not getting any roles who I'm sure would trade their statues for Angela Bassett's placements.

fukk it I’ll say it…. I’m tired of the feminine/lgbt energy of ‘black Twitter’. They wanna be mean girls and have a lil clique off to the side and constantly police OTHER people: don’t fry chicken that’s ours, don’t do music like that we started it, ok show us love, ok don’t show us love leave us alone, ok you invited to the cookout , wait no actually leave black spaces alone. All that childish shyt…:beli:

But when them white folk handing out they lil awards now you wanna play ball. On some ‘how dare they not hand us the award’. They did the same when Beyonce didn’t win. Like, ok?!?! What kinda spoiled brat shyt is this. As with many things you give black feminists and lgbt an inch and they want a mile. Ever since ‘Oscar’s so white’ they wanna be handed every award.

Outside of what’s love got to do with it what award was Angela Bassett supposed win? :wtf:

same goes for movies
they might have been nominated for best picture but the best films that stand the test of time don't win usually
Citizen Kane being the best example

They fukk with Comic Book shyt when its “dark” and mimics other genres and when the actors are white (Heath Ledger. Joaquin Phoenix)

The fact that Angela was even nominated as a BLACK WOMAN in a comic book movie is actually a testament to how respected she is as an actress and how her performance (specifically the “Have I Not Given EVERYTHING!!?!” Scene) resonated with voters. I know it sounds like a backhanded compliment (because it is) but her nomination was a hell of a breakthrough for comic book based performances in general.

Come on breh.

Angela only got nominated because Chad passed.

If Angela had the same scenes in the first movie ain’t nobody talking about her winning an Oscar. We know this because Chad had almost the exact same dramatic scene she had here in the first movie.

NONE of y’all were talking about Oscar’s :francis:

You can’t compare her with Ledger and Phoenix. Where those movies were literally constructed around their characters to give them multiple standout scenes to the point where the movie could not function without the performance.

Facts.
Straight up, some of these recent award-winning movies will have absolutely zero longterm replay value 10 years from now:
  • 2021 - "CODA"
  • 2020 - "Parasite"
  • 2019 - "Green Book"
  • 2018 - "The Shape of Water"
  • 2017 - "Moonlight"
  • 2016 - "Spotlight"
  • 2015 - "Birdman"
  • 2014 - "12 Years a Slave"
  • 2013 - "Argo"
A lot of these movies won't and haven't aged that well, especially when compared to the ones from the first half of the century to this point:
  • 2012 - "The Artist"
  • 2011 - "The King's Speech"
  • 2010 - "The Hurt Locker"
  • 2009 - "Slumdog Millionaire"
  • 2008 - "No Country for Old Men"
  • 2007 - "The Departed"
  • 2006 - "Crash"
  • 2005 - "Million Dollar Baby"
  • 2004 - "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King"
  • 2003 - "Chicago"
  • 2002 - "A Beautiful Mind"
  • 2001 - "Gladiator"
I mean, that's a landslide in terms of contrast of quality, and I loved Everything Everywhere All At Once - I have it as one of the better movies this last decade, although it's 2nd overall to Top Gun: Maverick for me last year.

But it's not even the complete truth. Oscar wins have ruined as many careers as they've elevated because that "Y'all need to pay me more than this, I deserve top billing I'm an Oscar winner" shyt limits your opportunities. You MIGHT get some roles on the strength but in the same token just because the Academy thinks you deserve an Oscar doesn't mean studios believe you do or that they should pay you for it. Then they'll just find someone cheaper:mjlol:

Adrian Brody won an Oscar 20 years ago and been doing straight to dvd movies ever since. What did Monique's Oscar do for her? What about Halle Berry? Three 6 Mafia has a fukkin Oscar:mjlol: what effect did that have on Bands A Make Her Dance???:mjlol:

You have absolutely no idea what your talking about. Replying to you is nothing more than an exercise in debating the retarded.

But here we go..

Adrian Brody has not been doing “straight to DVD movies” since winning an oscar and a quick Google search easily confirms this. But since i’m replying to an idiot…

Just last year the man was nominated for an Emmy for his work in HBO’s Succession, which is one of the most prestigious and critically acclaimed shows on television. He is also currently starring in the HBO drama series Winning Time. Prior to that he had major roles in Grand Budapest Hotel (nominated for Best Picture at the 2015 Academy Awards) King Kong (which one of the five highest grossing films of the year in America in 2005) and Midnight In Paris (which earned him both Golden Globe and SAG nominations)

He also serves as either producer or executive producer on many of the projects he works on…namely AFTER winning the Oscar

Monique’s Oscar win didn’t ruin her career. Failed business relationships and falling out with studios ruined her career. Its called being blackballed. And it had to do with her attitude. And even with being blackballed Monique has been in movies and television shows during the time she was going through her riffs.

As for Three Six Mafia… Well i’ll
Let them tell it

Juicy J: Everything happened so fast, my mind was racing that night. I got free room service, got into clubs for free, I got upgraded to a better hotel — it was so nice, if you want some food, just push a button; you want sushi at five in the morning, they’ll make it for you. We got free everything: any restaurant, I’d set that Oscar down, “What would you guys like? Everything is on the house.” The power of the Oscar, man.

DJ Paul: I woke up in my hotel room the next morning with my housecoat on and a bottle of champagne in my hand, and the phone ringing because the Hollywood Reporter or somebody was calling for an interview and taking pictures of us. Then we did some interviews and flew back home.

When we landed there was so many people in the airport waiting for us, there was applause, the minute we stepped off the airplane people started going crazy, it was almost like a little parade at the airport for us. It was crazy.

Juicy J: When we got back to Memphis, Dolly Parton actually sent us a letter congratulating us and signed it, saying she was just happy [the award] came back to Tennessee.

Juicy J: It was a dream come true, man. We had never won nothing in our entire lives and then we were international stars overnight. Everything got bigger, we did shows overseas, got a lotta good money and beautiful women. It motivated me even more: If I can win an Oscar, I can do anything in life.

Since the 00s (maybe even the 90s) she's deserved an Oscar or two, clearly, the Academy must not be a fan of hers in general to constantly snuff her out.

I love auntie Angela but, she doesn't really need an Oscar 🤷🏾‍♀️, her career is pretty much solidified, she's a Hollywood legend up there with the great actors and actresses 💯.

Oscars need to catch up with their awards already

They keep giving out awards based on lifetime career and not the movie itself

like if you're gonna give best supporting to everything everywhere, it obviously goes to Stephanie Hsu, not Jamie Lee Curtis. But Stephanie is too young and JLC too established

now in 20 years Stephanie Hsu will get it over some other performance and the cycle begins again

shyts dumb
