Why doesn't the NBA network have good original content like the NFL network?

Bama ass DC
The NBA has some kind of partnership with them. That’s how they’re able to get the rights to post the highlights. Same with that Dawkins dude on Youtube

...do you not listen to that long ass message after every telecast!?! NBA would shut that shyt down if that wasn’t the case.

BR is owned by Turner Broadcasting. Turner runs NBA TV.
And a white man get paid off of alladat

Football is the GOAT sport. It's not even close when comparing football to other American sports like baseball and basketball, etc. :hubie:

A lot of this comes from the focus of the league on maintaining some semblance of parity, and the variance inherent to the way the game is played.

There are only 16 games, and the playoffs are single-elimination. Every single possession counts. :whew:

There's 53 guys on every roster. That's 53 potential human interest stories on each team, each year. :blessed:

There's also the fact that basketball is so star-driven and talent-driven compared to football over long stretches of time. :manny:

In football, one completely unknown dude can come in and make one play that forever changes the fortunes of his franchise because of the single-elimination nature of the playoffs :manny:

"The best team" doesn't always win - which is FANTASTIC if you're a fan of the sport. No matter how good you are as an NFL team, you can't simply cruise on the talent of the players on your roster - your opposition always has the opportunity to catch you slippin :demonic::demonic: because of the limited number of possessions you've got to fix errors made in prior possessions. :manny:

Every game in the playoffs is must-see TV. Even in the regular season - making the playoffs is a fukking challenge for most NFL teams. And once you're in...ANYTHING can happen. :krs::krs::banderas:

And unlike basketball, it doesn't take years and years of practice plus some super-rare combination of physical gifts and hand-eye coordination and countless AAU games to become a good (or even great) football player. A guy who was originally a good (but not great) basketball player can turn around and in 2 years or less become a serviceable tight end or offensive tackle, and with 1 good catch or 1 good block, bring a W home. :blessed:

And those massive rosters and the existence of an extended preseason and tryouts for undrafted FAs means that dudes have a lot more chances of making the NFL than they do the NBA :blessed: - you could languish for years in the G-league and never get that call-up because you simply never got to be in front of the right people or with the right other 4 dudes to make your game stand out and have teams consider you for promotion :mjcry:

Football. :banderas::banderas::blessed::blessed::blessed:

Unlike the NFL the NBA usually has meaningful content going on even during the offseason such as the Summer League so they dont need it as much. And they have Open Court which most people love.

People fail to realize that through 2/3 of the year the NFL has nothing to offer so they need original content

This guy put meaningful content and summer league in the same sentence

Cause Basketball can't make classic programming like football can.
I was watching All or Nothing with Michigan, then went into all or nothing with the Cowboys this past weekend and it hit me that it's almost impossible to make bad football programming. Friday Night Lights (show and movie), last chance u, Friday night tykes, varsity blues, playmakers. Football programming is A1 can't miss.
Basketball got Hoosiers and White Men can't jump :manny:

I was about to watch the Michigan joint last night, how is it?:lupe:

Basically the NFL saved almost everything from the beginning and the NBA had a ruff patch in the beginning of the 40's, terrible TV deals following, the leauge becoming too black, games being shown on tape delay, the whole seventies which to who you ask is either the greatest time or the worst time where the players mostly black "good paid too much too early and did drugs", The ABA merger brought the skill level up ten fold, Larry vs Magic helped, Jordan helped, the leauge changed to increase scoring, then also basically the gentrification of the NBA again with the forcing US teens to go to college, getting players from Europe who were much cheaper, forcing the dress code which they relaxed since certain people retired, the brawl in the palace, and the league it's self reverse funneling young stars to teams through the draft lottery to get more money through merch, tickets, PSAs,and TV limiting money players can get on rookie deals, creating rules like bird rights to make players stay, the "super max", and other things the best example of this is the end of the Sonic's start of the OKC thunder get KD, move to OKC, get Russ, get Harden, and be groomed to be that team out west so now OKC is seen as a basketball place when it's not imagine the Knicks getting three future HOFs back to back

The NFL network has so much original content which adds to the league and the overall knowledge of the game. They have things like Americas game, NFL Top 10, A football life and etc.

When I was younger and getting into football I learned a lot by watching shows like that. I would've never learned about so many of the older players if that content hadn't been available.

The NBA network should be doing the same. There's so much stuff the NBA network could cover, but they simply don't :patrice:
Watching NFL FILMS with stebe sabol and that jazz/swing music afterschool on espn :wow:

The NBA's season is much longer then the NFL season first of all. Their season runs from basically October until June, with 1,230 regular season games and 2 months of playoff games with new games pretty much daily. New games EVERY night of the week give new content. With the draft in late June, and summer league most of July, that leaves only 2 months that they would need to try and fill. Those 2 months are pretty much the summer months (August and September) so lots of people are out traveling and enjoying the good weather. People get a little basketball fatigue at that point, need a little break. Those 2 months are a good break.

The NFL is only from August until early February, so just 5 months. The main thing with the NFL is for the most part, their games are on at the same time, and the same day. They only have games 3 days a week, so thats at least 4 days they have to fill time WEEKLY. Only 256 regular season games to talk about and only 11 postseason games (all on weekends, so Mon-Fri, you gotta fill that time). Also, the NFL offseason falls in the cold months where people are home, so there will be more eyes on their channel in Feb- June. They need content to fill that as well.

The main reason that the NFL channel has more content is the NFL is more of a voyeur sport. Most people love the NFL cause of the contact and the fact that most people dont want to actually PLAY, but love the 'car crash' effect (cant look away, have to watch but not be in one). Many more people play basketball at a higher level recreationally so its something that more people understand already.

Also, there are 1,700 players in the NFL compared to 430 in the NBA, so there are 4 times the behind the scenes stories that can be told to fill time. Alot more time to film things such as 'A day in the life', and things like that.

TLDR: The NFL has 1/6 the games, and run 3 months shorter, so they need more to fill a 24/7/365 network. Only so many classic games can be made each season.

I liked that NBA in the 70s/80s/90s series they did a couple years ago.

because its true.

The NBA is popular among kids, a lot of the reason is because they allow everyone to use their content on social media.

NBA has always been great at marketing to kids. Remember how important it was to watch Inside Stuff every saturday to see the highlights and interviews? Then the NFL and MLB copied it...
