MMA is a sport btw, not a fighting style. Being well rounded existed long before MMA, it's called Jeet Kune Do

the ones i fought competed in military competitions

and one as just a hobby

The elites like Anderson Silva Jon Jones and Jose Aldo are were they are because they put 20 times the amount of training and effort to be as sharp as possible in all facets of martial arts as a professional boxer like footed mayweather who learns his niche and coasts through out his career or any other elite boxer. The thing with boxing is that it's just one discipline. Sure a guy can become so skilled it seems as if he's untouchable amongst other boxers but who's to say that boxer wouldn't be out matched by his opponent in the kick boxing department? Martial arts is the be all end all of what combat sports is. It encompasses every aspect of fighting into one game to see who the VERY BEST combatant in the world actually is and right now that man is Jon Jones.

Damn right especially not the ones in the ufc and certainly no the ones at the top of their respective decisions. Take Dnaiel Cormier for instance an Olympic Level wrestler has been competing at damn near the highest level of the worlds oldest and most demanding sport to date comes into the UFC making light work of his appoints until he runs into Jones who is not only a skilled Juco national champion but a guy born for this shyt in of itself. These are the kinds of men at the top of mixed martial arts in 2015 world class athletes from a multitude of diverse fighting disciplines.
