Why don't politicians get assassinated anymore?

They still get assassinated the operatives are just getting better at their jobs.

They have a heart attack
a car crash
A "random" mugging or home invasion.
They "commit suicide"

If everyone knows it was an assassination youre not a good assassin.

Security is on top of things. A good security would scout a venue days in advance for any liability.

Believe it or not, society is becoming less and less violent as time goes on

We still have a loooong way to go but things aren't as crazy as they used to be (regardless of what u read/hear on the news)

What we currently live in now is pretty much humanity's teenager phase, we're still greedy capitalist, still obsessed with superstition/religion, still brainwashed by nationalism and tribalism

But we're slowly drifting away from it, Now what is the end goal? ....Think Star Trek The Next Generations. That's when we'll reach adult status as a species.

Many of the reasons listed here, but I would also add that people are not as desperate anymore.
At least not western countries.

If times truly got rough and desperation peaked, you would see far more assassination attempts.
Most would fail though because security actually is that much better

Funny, I just brought this up in another thread just yesterday, but a state senator was murdered in Charleston who was pushing for body cams and it is basically looked over or forgotten.

Murdered State Senator Clementa Pinckney made this haunting speech about Walter Scott.
