The US has 3 times as many people in the reserves than Japan has in their actual military, and even if they really wanted smoke we could just give China the green light to do whatever they want.

I think a big key was that we removed their Emporer/King then occupied them (I think they only have one for posterity now). Like a poster said earlier, he was basically a God on some Kim Jong Un shyt. A large swath of the population had never heard the voice of him, and he said they were done. It fundamentally changed their society and the only time we pushed a nation towords democracy.

These people were literally diving planes into Carriers for the cause and they still lost. It was a full on defeat, which may not bode well for future military conflicts.

On a extra note, the Axis powers losing that War was a fantastic thing. The World isn't perfect now, but it would've been all bad if they won.

The weapon wasn't really meant for the Japanese, it was really meant to show the soviets that America isn't to be fukked with since communism had been gaining traction in the US and places where America had business interests like Latin America.

After the war America gave Japan free military protection and pumped billions of dollars into their economy. That was back when America actually did shyt to help people while screwing them over. Now the government just wastes money. If there's one thing America is good at now its wasting money instead of using it wisely.

Reparations are irrelevant to this kind of conversation. The capitalist god is money so that will always be a factor somewhere, but if you think forgiveness enters the equation you are sorely mistaken.
