Being the son of a long time former NYPD detective...my pop taught me how to hide it in certain places but whenever I do carry, my gun license is right on hand with me but most times I leave them at home

That's not what gun ownership is about. If US cops are your primary concern then you need a plane ticket, not a gun. Everyone should take their self defense seriously and in that the options available among a host of scenarios.

There aren't too many of those where not telling cops about a gun that you legally own and carry is going to play out well.

Nah I wouldn't tell the cops unless I have to. I mean even if you did tell them you had a gun upfront they can still get nervous. There's no difference between the scenarios.They can look up the information on the computer too.


Matter of fact I'm about to do some research on this. Iirc, there have been blacks pulled over with guns. I'm not the type to jump into something this serious without the knowledge anyway

Edit: After a couple videos the best thing to do sounds like telling them you have a CCW

Oklahoma is an open carry state, so all I need is a conceal carry license.

I've been pulled over twice.

When I give my drivers license I always give my ccw card which has my name, picture, address on it as well.

Both times they are like "Is it on you?"
"Yes

" Well where is it at so I know?"

First time it was in my pocket, second time it was wedged between my console and passenger seat in plain sight.

Both times the white officer didn't panic or anything. Both times it was only a 1 officer stop, he didn't call backup or anything. I got a warning for speeding (I was speeding) and the other one I didn't get anything. Neither time did the they take my gun.

I just hand them both IDs, my insurance and registration, they go to their car, then they come back.

I've only been pulled over twice while carrying. Those stops are a lot quicker. Maybe minutes tops. Before these two recent times. It seems like they took longer.
