Why hasn't Rap had a Classic album in the last 10 years?

Thank you!

Ive noticed that all through-out the years online. nikkas seem to think classic means "albums i like". So an
album will drop and they'll be like "I bump this shyt with no skips. Instant classic yo!".

I always say that classics have IMPACT, thats the key factor to me. An album that changed or shifted the culture at one time. Or just
something that made the game stop. It was a moment.

So whether you or i like/dislike an album, impact is not something you cant deny.

I can dislike, say, "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" all i want (an example!), but i cant say its not a classic and we all know the reasons.

Look online and every got damn Kanye album is a classic.
the thing about it is, at this point in hip-hop, impact can be manufactured. Organic impact exists but it's stifled with the synthetic "moments" at the top of the heirarchy.

Yeah great point. But im thinking impact still is a more relevant factor than basing it on if i like an album or not, which imo is
ridiculous.

Hip hop been trash, by and large, starting in 97. :sas1:
Coincidentally, 97 saw the rise of the South with No Limit. :sas2:

I don't think a classic necessary needs a huge impact on its own merit, but it could be one of gears that causes change. 2010-2013 cemented a lot of trends you see today. A lot of those weirdo rappers are children of those folks.
