There are engineers in San Francisco clearing 100k that need two roommates to keep a roof over their head
This idea of how the world and compensation works has these broads very confused
if you can't pay all the bills on your own. i mean mortgage ,food ,lights car notes. i mean all the bills
you can't afford a wife
if you can't survive comfortably on half your income i.e. pay all your bills with only half your check
you can't afford a wife and kids
its really that simple
honestly it really is that simple
wives and children are not for broke men
i can tell a lot of yall is young
because when you get older you will see dudes fucc up there life by taking on the expense of wife and kids
but not have the money to pay for it
a successful marriage is a lot of hard work
struggling to pay your bills ain't going to make it any easier
here is the roadmap
education - solid career - home ownership - marriage - children
your just asking to get fucced off doing it out of order

What type environment were most of you raise in? 
There have been healthy arrangements of all kinds.
-Your fathers most likely paid the mortgage.
-Your father and mother mostly both paid the mortgage
-Your mothers most likely paid the mortgage.
It's understandable that people who grew with single mothers who think the woman should pay the mortgage.
But don't project your insecurities on others who choose do the opposite.
People who grew up with fathers don't project your rules onto other who choose to do something that may work for their lifestyle.

It's a very old mindset that she has, in post-Recession salaries and careers for American Black Men aren't hitting 6 figures or close to it (which is what you need to live middle class with kids and a mortgage).
Being a stay-at-home spouse is lazy and actually embarrassing for anyone that is an adult.
And since we are keeping it real, the kind of man who could pull that kind of scratch and allow his woman to chill at home and do nothing isn't going to be checking for a 40-year old woman.
He is going to get a 22-year old foreign joint to build a family/legacy with. The OP needs to change her ways, otherwise she is gonna be cat lady.

I grew up in a two parent household. So in our household, it was both 1 & 2, since pops made the majority of the income. I do see what your saying, and I agree.

I don't think it's embarrassing IF you can afford it. If your wife is staying home to taking care of the kids, it's not a problem.

After your kids reach a certain age, they can fend for themselves for the most part. I was home during the day at 9 watching my younger brother because I was too old for daycare and we did fine. There's no reason for anyone to be a stay at home spouse imo.
As far as this topic goes, the thought of someone paying everything is extremely selfish. This isn't the 50s anymore where a man could buy a home, car and support his family with his check. If your spouse isn't willing to help with overhead or bills, I'd like to know what's happening with their income because I'm not going to go broke and penniless while you save for yourself.
