Why in the black community we sometimes struggle with having healthy conversations about obesity?

No, you’re just spreading negativity and breeding hopelessness over time...
No it's not spreading negativity so in other words your basically saying that me talking about improving health and learning about the health risks of obesity is a mood downer for both of y'all?

That's why you don't want to learn because it's all about bad news?

You're just exposing how you don't care about yourself in the grand scheme of things, you and your friend are spreading hopelessness and negativity with that attitude.

I don't think anyone truly hates to talk about it, but I certainly do think a very high mass don't particularly care because there's no incentive to do so. In general, it has to come from the individual levels first.

For example, how many females do you think constantly get told "you so thick" when the reality is much different? How many dudes get called "big daddy"?

Soo in other words if you if you gain heart disease from obesity your completely fine with that? You don't care about yourself, bruh. Everything you said is what I said in the OP, mentally you're hiding behind fake happiness to excuse yourself from improving your health. Maybe cause you don't want too or you can't or you just don't care.
First of all unless you are in my skin YOU can’t determine my happiness level. Stop assuming shyt

if I get happy by enjoying what I eat when I eat it, and I’m fully cognizant of my decisions, why the fukk are you so upset? Also, genetics and a lot of other shyt like stress, bad environment conditions and others plays a factor in those diseases you named. It’s not just what you eat.

whenever I hear black ppl (insert statement here) I immediately think here goes another person acting like they know whats best for me.

you calling people retarded for being obese is like me calling you retarded because you don’t have a PhD yet. Why don’t you have a PhD yet? Black people need to take their academics serious.

see how ignorant and void of brevity that statement was? That’s what you sound like.

because people have convinced themselves it's normal

I been in a few situations where something happens and people have to run from danger. I damn near always see big people hit the ground right away. It's dangerous to be out of shape
Bruh, they'll learn one day when they're sitting there eating dinner and start feeling some discomfort on the left side of the their chest/a lil pain in their left arm.

That's a sign of heart disease/heart attack symptoms.

I often wonder the same when I read some things on here.

I can appreciate brehs like a woman who has meat on her bones and looks durable, but there seems to be something in our culture which is encouraging sisters to overdo this perhaps.

Because I'm not gay, I obviously won't see a very shapely and meaty lady like a man would, but when I see a lady who is very big, I do wonder about her health...this also includes the ladies who are not necessarily overweight but who are having modifications done to their body to create these abnormal proportions.

The older I get, I realize health is really the thing we ought to prioritize over all others because it literally affects our ability and the quality of opportunities related to our ability to interact with the world. Many things we experience and produce in our life is, to a high degree, a consequence of our level of health.

I'm still holding extra weight from my last pregnancy a few years ago and I'm now having health issues I had never experienced prior during any point in my life, and I wasn't heavy before. So, I can't imagine how the ladies who are shouldering way more pounds are managing on the daily with simple stuff we take for granted like walking or breathing comfortably. I imagine you get used to it but it might make you feel restricted in your skin.

Also, my prior time in the military often makes me think in a 'readiness' mode, and sometimes my initial thoughts when I see sisters who look hampered by their weight is if some SHTF fukkery popped off unexpectedly either in their home, community or, hell, even this country, they would not have the basic ability to run from it, literally. Every time I see a twerk video, whether the dancer is large or small, I'm wondering if the lady has the same physical endurance to run for her life over a notable distance if she had to...

It's not just them though; it, again, may be a societal issue. Subconsciously, many of us are operating maybe sonambulistically, as if something random could not happen to bring daily life as we know to a halt.

Investment in looking good versus being healthy seems to be something which can only exist within the confines of human civilization because, in nature, the creatures and organisms which are not physically well do not survive. A lot of our human lives seem to be fashioned to make us think we exist outside of this natural law...:yeshrug:

this a whole lot of juelzing

you only need to go back a few generations to see that this shyt isn't regular. stop accepting it.

being happy with being fat doesn't make it healthy.

Listen I'm not gonna argue with you cause I know deep down that's just denial talking but like I told your friend, if y'all are happy and satisfied with being obese (getting bigger and bigger) along with catching potential health risks from it, then there's nothing else I can say to you because y'all both have this attitude of hopelessness/IDGAF anymore, and I don't want that vibe setting into my mind to bring me or even others down who do care about themselves.

Peace, blessings & have a nice day to the both of you.

Go back a few generations to when, slavery? Or before that?

also, I love how you all make these arguments with no context. Merely 170 years ago were still experiencing famines, food shortages worldwide, and that is globally. Now we have an over abundance of food over here and people are getting bigger.

the US as a whole is heavier because of GMOs, more sedentary lifestyles, etc. stop just trying to blame black people for being obese when it’s a problem that transcends race.

and yes genetics does play a role in shyt. People have different body types, metabolism levels, hell even shyt like sickle cell can keep you from gaining significant weight.

A lot of black communities don't have access to healthy foods. Without a car, especially in the south your options are limited.

This.....has never been true.

there's always been fruits, vegetables, and low-fat low sodium options...but you know us "it don't taste the same!"

The incentive is improving your health and obesity is already a health condition. You should care about your body enough to wanna keep your organs healthy because a build up of fat around them is dangerous. You may feel good now but keep it up and years (or even months) all that good feeling can change.
