Why is Ebro one of the hosts of Hot 97's morning show now?

I haven't seen the ratings so I don't know how bad it is for hot 97 but I would think if they are getting killed by the breakfast club they would be looking to make a change.

Star would probably be the best choice but he probably burned too many bridges over their. It would be interesting but he may be too raw for FM radio these days, the world is much more sensitive now than when he was on hot 97 so his type of show may not be what program directors are looking for

The breakfast club smashed hot 97's morning show in ratings in just a couple of years. Ebro needs to take his ass off the radio and back to being a full time program director. I use to live in NY and only listened to the breakfast club in the mornings on my way to work. Hot 97 morning show is just trash.

no they aren't . there is no real beef but ebro was sending all types of shots at him saying they "ran him outta town" .. and also throwing subliminals at him on the mornings due to the gossip game. Star even talked about this.

Bottom line they gotta strengthen that morning show up ... the breakfast club alone has pushed power1051 as a whole station to have better ratings than hot 97 ...

I just can't imagine how anyone thought cornball ass Rosenberg was the person to build a hip hop morning show around...then compound that mistake by choosing Cipha to pair up with him...I just wonder how the hell does that happen...you'd have to imagine that's pretty much the most coveted urban radio personality job in the country, or up there near the top...and that's what they decide to roll out with ...two guys who at best should be filling in as the "straight man" to some larger more entertaining personality (think Envy's role on the Breakfast Club)...seeing Rosenberg reach and trying to be some kind of "character" is just ...hate that guy

Ebro has more personality and stronger opinions than both of them combined so I see why he's been on lately...The 3rd wheel female/gossip girl is completely useless on all these morning shows....They add nothing...

People forget, prior to the breakfast club, Rosenberg and Ciph were doing great in the morning ratings, even beating Z100 for one rating period. But that's largely due to the fact that they had no serious competition on Power at the time. I mean no shots against Ed Lover, but he wasn't strong enough to push Power against Hot in the ratings. And when they first got the morning show slot, a lot of people were rooting for them due to the cult like following they had with their Juan Epstein podcast.I think Rosenberg and Ciph are a good pairing for a underground, nerd, juan epstein, hip hop, like setting. That's where their talent shines the most. But unfortunately, the casual radio listener in the mornings don't care about that. Their morning show is just not strong enough to compete with the breakfast club, plain and simple. Idk if its a pride thing or a loyalty thing, but it seems like Ebro is doing whatever it takes to make the show work. Would you call that being loyal to your team or flat out foolish? I guess time will tell with that

Star was beating Stern in NY in overall ratings??? This is the first time I'm hearing this, do you have a source (and if it's Star saying it, then know radio people lie about ratings all the time).

Stern ran NY from the time he went to K-Rock to the time he left for Sirius, so I find this VERY hard to believe, unless you mean he beat Stern in some specific demo (like 18-34 blacks or something), which even then seems unlikely.

Not to cut in but I use to listen to them all the time and Star did say plenty of times at one point they were beating Howard Stern and made fun of Sterns move to XM radio calling it the grave yard. This is by no way a ratings report or anything but just an old article that also mentions that he beat howard stern before in the ratings. Just to show that other dude wasnt making the statement up even though this isnt concrete proof.

I agree with all of this. Juan Epstein is probably my favorite podcast but I never listen to their morning show. I don't listen to anything on the radio. If Star came back though I would definitely listen.

this is mos def a suge "all in the videos" situation, but more importantly, its a jordan-wiz thing;

he's program director. the team he put together is the one that's losing the ratings battle, so he had to come down out of the owners box because you gotta think his job is on the line. if youre gonna go down, you might as well go down unloaded.

and if it doesnt work, he now has more exposure as a personality as well as a PD.

Nobody could fukk with star when he was on hot 97. shyt would have me late for work because I would be in the car listening. Truthfully star was the last time I would tune in religiously to a show. I like cipha and Rosenberg, but not for the morning show. Rosenberg is a cornball. Hell I miss when ms jones had her own show.

the thing that Power 105.1 does is that the Breakfast Club is controversial without compromising the station. Star would always say some shyt that would put Hot97 in hot water. That's why they wouldn't jump at bringing him back.
