Sadly we'll be saying the same thing, only about Allen Iverson :smh:

:dead:

I don't even acknowledge the Iverson shyt anymore.

nikkas stay talking about "AI needs to come back into the league, he can still play" while at the same time talking about how guys like Kobe and KG are near the end of their careers......AI is older than both of them nikkas and has started declining MUCH earlier.

I wouldn't even have a problem with it if they didn't always do it as a way of tearing down the younger guys.

And the nostalgia goggles people wear is so fukking transparent. Can you imagine if a player today dropped 63 in a playoff game and LOST? they'd be crucified as being a selfish player who can't will his team to a win.

Dog....I've long been puzzled by this. MJ's 63 points in a losing cause was rightfully lauded because of the sheer beauty of what he did in that game. That's when sports writers lived in the moment.

Do that today and "only the loss matters" not the beauty of watching someone dominate. Kobe's 81 "can't" be enjoyed because of inferior comp or "he wouldn't have done that back in MY day!!!" ass niqqas hating.

It's annoying. Let these young players live....ENJOY SPORTS TODAY.

Dog...I factor that to the age old "we hate you while you played, but love you after you've gone" syndrome by idiot sports fans. The same ones who hated Ali back in the day now want to ride his dikk. The same ones who hated AI WHILE HE PLAYED suddenly realize how great he was after he's left, so he becomes almost mythical.

The 2012 team would no question compete with that 92 team. While the 92 team would kill the 2012 team in the low blocks, no one was stopping the 12 team from blacking out from three.

Either way, your post came off like you're trying to paint people as unworthy of having credible opinions.

For the record, I never liked AI while he played. I though he was a nut out of this universe and it wasn't fun watching him go 11-32 for 33pts every night.

He was mad selfish.

nikkas in the hood love AI on some Rucker Park shyt..

Call it what you want, but I don't think we're going to see anytime soon a player his size giving no fukks about his well being running into the trees the way he did.

I appreciated what he did because it was unique and we may not see someone like him again....

I don't have to wait 10 years after he left to be on some " :ohhh: he was really nice!!!"

wtf does his 50th birthday gotta do with anything sports related :what:
This nikka been retired for 10 years. His last title was 15 years ago. Why we still hearing about him? I don't care if old ass nikkas think he's the GOAT. New age nikkas don't care. I'mma 80s baby, so I don't care about what he did in the 90s.

I want us to talk about todays players not some old nikka that played 20 years ago.

Hopefully when our generation takes over places like ESPN, we won't waste our time talking about nikkas from 20 years ago.

they needed a story to keep up the post super bowl marketing dollars

:mjpls: is also releasing 2 new expensive :yayo: shoes this weekend as well :yeshrug:

That's my thing. This is the best quality of basketball we're seeing now since the 80's IMO. Sooooo much young talent in the league now....but we're not allowed to enjoy it because we have to keep looking at the NBA's past and MJ.

ESPN needs to turn into a pillar of salt with all of the looking behind they're doing.

Enjoy living in the present. Enjoy the moment....

the level of talent period in the NBA and damn near in all major sports has increased.. training, medicine, scouting it all has increased the talent pool...a kid in 88 that gets hurt would have no shot at a college/pro career. Nowadays, an ACL tear for a kid in a 5 Star program is a year of rehab...the last few weeks of which are almost full practice.

Jordan was great, is the greatest. But lets not negate the acomplishments of Kobe, Lebron, Shaq, D-Wade, Melo if he gets a ring, The big fundamentals, and many other players that are 1st ballot hall of famers.

I got to see MJ and the 72-10 Bulls live and in person with my pops, and while I recognize MJ's greatness that doesn't mean I compare every fukking player to him. The problem is ESPN doesn't allow anyone to do a damn thing without MJ comparisons, it's like they're making up for all the time they didn't get to shove the MJ narrative down peoples throats back when the Network had some type of integrity.

It's like no other player exists beyond MJ, someone scored 46pts last night? Oh well who cares, cause that fat fakkit Michael Wilbon is bringing up that MJ once scored 47pts in 2 minutes. Everything is diminished because these morons will not let other players be great, this is the only sport I can think of where current players are constantly penalized for not being another player.
I think we're in another golden age for the NBA with all the great young talent flooding the league and some really good squads, yet ESPN and all their talking heads are just too stupid to realize it cause of what MJ did. I hate ESPN and everything they stand for :birdman:

This is so true. What's funny is there was a time when any nikka with a good vertical or who dropped 30 was favorably compared to Mike. I remember when JET, yes JET, magazine did a feature on "Who's the Next Jordan?" and listed the likes of Shawn Kemp and Charles Barkley as the nikkas to fill his shoes. :comeon:

Now no matter what a nikka does it's gonna be "Bu...bu...but you know Jordan did that shyt with a broken foot and a herpes outbreak." :mjpls: The shyt has totally flipped. What it all comes down to is people being unable/unwilling to let MJ go. It's like they tried to find anyone to replace him and then they just said "fukk it. There will never be another him." :to:

ESPN is like a silly broad. Mike is that nikkas that dikked her down like she's never had it before and then left. Harold Minor, Penny etc. were the rebound nikka. Bron and KD and co. are the nikka she is with now who is doing everything he can to please her but no matter what they do she's still hung up on :mjpls:. :russ:

If someone has come along that is better than Jordan and isn't getting their proper due then you have a gripe..I would get that...

But what I hear comes off as a bunch of "Yeah that girls a dime, but she ain't that fine" type comments..

Are you saying that the greatest player of all time is overrated? If that's the case, why label anyone as the greatest?

Why don't we just say equally nice things about everyone?

Theres not 1 young player that has entered the NBA within the past 10 years who said they grew up wanting to play like AI or that he was their influence.

Almost every wing player wanted to be like Mike...........and recently they are saying they grew up watching Kobe:yeshrug:

why would a wing player want to play like someone who is 8-10 inches shorter than them?

youre confusing popularity & impact with playing styles. i wouldnt expect 6'7 - 6'10 players to be influenced by a 5'11 nicca.

the bottom line is, iverson was thee guy with the mid-late '80s babies crowd. not michael jordan. thats what dude was saying.

i also remember kobe not even being as popular as t-mac & vince. ALOT of people didnt bang with kobe at all. he was basically seen as the corporate champion.

I'm sorry, but unlike Rakim, I don't recall anyone saying " :ohhh:this dude may be the best MC ever" until he passed.

whats your point? i dont recall anyone referring to anybody as the goat while they were active back then. not pac, not biggie, not snoop(pre-doggfather), not jay, nas, none of em.

MATW was still fairly new. AEOM had just dropped. 7 day theory didnt even exist yet.

:dead:

I don't even acknowledge the Iverson shyt anymore.

iverson started his decline MUCH earlier?

when did this decline start?

i remember espn was trying to convince us that iverson was on the downslide as far back as like 2004....he had some of his best seasons after that.

For the record, I never liked AI while he played. I though he was a nut out of this universe and it wasn't fun watching him go 11-32 for 33pts every night.

there were no other scorers on those old sixers teams.

unlike kobe, who never played a season without other viable options on his team, yet still jacked up the same amount of shots.

depends if the Dream Team played in 2012 when they would all be 48 years old or older... or if the 2012 team played in 1992 when they would be 10 years old or younger.

thats real right there, Jordan to me isn't just the greatest because he was a total package and a great competitor. There are people who have scored more points, had more assist or rebounds even cats with more rings...but Jordan's intangibles put him over the top.

BUT

To say shyt like Kobe and Lebron aren't on THAT kind of level is stupid to me. We haven't seen single players have such impacts on seasons, post seasons and individual games like those two.

If jordan is at the top of the pyramid the two stones right under him are Kobe and Lebron...

...

I think Kobe is treated with a reasonable level of respect by ESPN.. All I consistently hear is... He's a top 10 player all-time, one of the greatest Lakers ever (along with Magic and Kareem), the 2nd best 2-guard ever, the biggest winner of his era and the closest thing to Jordan..Nobody wants to win more than him.. He's mentally tougher than all of his teammates and peers...

What more can really honestly be said? I don't know what I'm missing..

As far as LeBron goes..He's my favorite player by far.. But it's way too early to sum up his legacy.. He's not even 30 yet and just won his first title 6 months ago...

How should we honestly be speaking about him as compared to Jordan?

And all I hear about him from ESPN analyst is "He's the best player in the game, and it isn't even close?".. "The seperation between him and the next best player is huge".. "He's a man among boys"... "We haven't even see him reach his peak yet"

So you saying that thats not enough praise and he's being slighted somehow because of Jordan?

If anything Durant and Tim Duncan should have a gripe...Not because they can't beat the ghost of MJ, but because they don't even receive the same level of respect as Kobe and Bron...
