The way I see it is society has laws but not standards. Some of the most celebrated people in history are the ones who broke the laws. In the modern era I've noticed that people who try to call people out on their behavior get shot down. Did that happen forever? Idk because I wasn't there but I've seen it happen my whole life. Someone calls someone out on bs and then they are the a$$holes. :manny:

Maybe what you consider standards were conditioned in you from the time we are born. Some of those were shaped by your experiences, others in the form of indoctrination by the culture you were raised in but just because a you don't agree with what is acceptable now doesn't make you any more of an a$$hole than generation after you. It's all relative and has varied so much that history is doesn't even come close to giving us any reliable measure for what we should consider a one size fits all "standard".

teen pregnancy may not occur as much as it has in the past, but with shows like teen mom and 16 and pregnant, that stigma isn't as attached to it.

Most of my standards are aimed at supporting a society with the least dysfunction possible. We know that teen pregnancy and OOW births increase the likely hood of parents raising maladjusted individuals not to mention it becoming a burden for the parents so it's really not good for all parties involved.

True. Times change, people change, conditions change and therefore so-called standards change aswell, they must. In light of that personally i wouldnt even use that word "standards". Sounds too close to "Standing" or "stand still"...seems to contradict the constant flow of change regarding life. Thinking in terms of standards can really screw up someones thinking.

In the 80's this was a sin and most likely would've gotten a abortion. In the 90's it happened a bit more but, Teenager where aware of the consequences and knew there life was done.

Today's it's a uncontrolled epidemic. Kids are having kids like, it's a new shoe style. They find it no problem to live off welfare, and not even try to find a job.

What even makes it worse, is that MTV and other channels are embracing this with joy with the Teen Mom shows like this is something to be proud about.

Is is bad parenting, education system, something the government can do about it?

How many times do I have to debunk this bullshyt? :beli:

The teen pregnancy rate was at its highest in the 80s.
I know you didn't notice it back then, because you were most likely real young, but it's true. People kept hold of numbers for those of us who were too young to remember or weren't around to see it at all.
